Teaching has always been far more than a job; I regard it as a true vocation, and I have found great joy in it for more than three decades. I am versatile and creative in my teaching and assessment methods, always seeking the best approach for my students and working together with them to promote their own sense of accomplishment.
I welcome the opportunity to support the progress of students at any age level. I believe that the most authentic kind of teaching and learning will result in genuine achievement that will endure beyond any test, quiz or essay, and it is a privilege to be part of making that happen.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a classroom teacher for more than 35 years, I have wide-ranging experience in speaking to students in many contexts and in giving presentations to parent groups who attend various programs designed for them. I also regularly rehearse and coach adults as well as middle school and high school students who are in training to be lectors (readers or "proclaimers" of Scripture) and prayer leaders for liturgies in the Catholic Church and other denominations. I thoroughly enjoy helping speakers as they prepare to address others in a polished and professional manner.
I have taught vocal and choral music at Xavier High School since 2000 and have served as musical director for numerous theater productions at Xavier, The Hewitt School and The Browning School. I am an experienced church musician (accompanist on piano and organ, cantor, choral conductor) and a member of the New York Choral Society since 1974. I have completed frequent summer and Saturday CE courses at Westminster Choir College since 1986.
