About Jonathan

After more than 9 years of MCAT tutoring, I've successfully helped hundreds of students raise their MCAT scores--including students for the redesigned test. As a senior content developer, teacher and tutor at a big test prep company, I saw so many students struggle with the test, doubt their abilities, fail to get the help they needed and otherwise fall into a cycle where they weren't maximizing their ability. In almost every case, I've found that MCAT-takers failed to think of the MCAT as what it is and what it is alone--a test. What's worse, MCAT classes and the tutoring provided by many of these companies was overpriced, too focused on content, and never addressed why students were ACTUALLY missing questions. As a former med student and now resident, I understand the pressures associated with taking the test and getting into med school and will work with you to emphasize how to see the MCAT for what it is-- a reading comprehension exam with some required content knowledge. We'll put together a realistic study plan that works for YOU and, together, diagnose why you miss questions and determine the best way to FIX the problem. I'm experienced and successful in working with testers navigating the test for the first time, re-taking after a disappointment, or trying to turn a good score into a great score.

1-on-1 attention. Because of my other time demands as a resident, I usually work with only a handful of MCAT students at time. We're a team until (and after) test day.

Frequently I continue to work with students as they progress through the medical school application process providing advice on application materials and medical school interview preparation.

I also provide advice and comprehensive tutoring services to U.S and international medical students and graduates with medical school basic science course week, shelf exams, and preparing for the USMLE Steps 1, 2 (CS/CK), and 3 exams.

Please feel free to reach out and schedule a consultation. I look forward to discussing your situation.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
