About Craig

I'm a CPA and an expert in accounting. I have over 25 years of business experience and have served as a CFO and Controller following early career experience in public accounting. I pride myself on being clear and to the point. I not only know how to do but I know how to teach. I have mentored colleagues and taught accounting to laymen who wanted to get a better understanding of the subject. I tutor undergraduate and graduate students as well as working adults in all sections of the CPA Exam. I also help working adults who need help to better perform in their jobs. Finally, I have tutored the children of friends in accounting and math subjects. I enjoy teaching and helping others to succeed.

In addition to accounting, I am strong in other subject areas involving technology and systems. I have strong skills in MS Excel, Word, and QuickBooks. I'm well versed in digital technology overall and can help in a wide range of disciplines.

I am also strong in Math subjects. I was an outstanding student in Algebra when I was a student in high school. Even today, I use Algebraic equations frequently in my work. I offer tutoring in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, and Geometry.

I am an advanced user in MS Excel and QuickBooks. In Excel, I use pivot tables, advanced functions and formulas, charts and graphs, and vlookup. My expert proficiency has enabled me to analyze data quickly and deliver business intelligence in support of operational and strategic decision making.

I am a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor. I have used QuickBooks throughout my professional career and know its "ins" and "outs". It is an outstanding program for small and medium sized companies where I have spent virtually my entire career. I tutor QuickBooks Online in addition to QuickBooks Desktop Pro and QuickBooks Enterprise.

I have been a CFO and Controller for over 25 years and have experience in many facets of accounting, internal controls, business, and technology. I have served at a public company for over 7 years as a Corporate Controller preparing SEC filings, implementing internal controls, and preparing tax filings.

Whether you are a working adult, university or high school student, I look forward to being of assistance with accounting and business coursework, SAT Math or Algebra, QuickBooks, Excel or Word. I encourage you to contact me. I strive to make learning fast, clear and easy!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Accounting

I'm a CPA and an expert in accounting. I have over 25 years of business experience and have served as a CFO and Controller following early career experience in public accounting. I pride myself on being clear and to the point. I not only know how to do but I know how to teach. I have mentored colleagues and taught accounting to laymen who wanted to get a better understanding of the subject. I have also tutored the children of friends in accounting and math subjects. I enjoy teaching and helping others to succeed.

Algebra 1

I was an outstanding student in Algebra when I was a student in high school. I scored a 710 out of 800 on the SAT Math. Even today, I use Algebraic equations frequently in my work as a CFO/Controller.

Business

I'm a CPA with over 25 years of well rounded business experience having worked in public accounting for 5 years after graduating from NYU, followed by Controller, CFO, and consultative roles in the Corporate world. I'm expertly adept in accounting, finance, taxation, HR, operations, technology systems and more. I would be happy to supply my resume for your review.

Microsoft Excel

I am an advanced and enthusiastic user of MS Excel. I use pivot tables, advanced functions and formulas, charts and graphs, and v-lookup to name just a few features. My expert proficiency has enabled me to analyze data quickly and deliver business intelligence in support of operational and strategic decision making.

The key to improving with Excel is to stretch and explore new features. I have taught myself many of its features while also attending continuing education courses to learn new skills. As a tutor, I look to show students its most "game-changing" features, such as pivot tables, which, like everything else, are easy when you know how.

QuickBooks

As a CPA with experience in public accounting and as a Controller and CFO, I have used QuickBooks Pro and QuickBooks Enterprise extensively. I have set up new companies, established chart of accounts, recorded transactions, produced financial statements and exported data for manipulation using MS Excel. Quickbooks is a powerful, yet reasonably simple accounting system program to use and I am overwhelmingly comfortable with it. I would consider myself a power-user of the program.

SAT Math

I scored a 710 out of 800 on the Math SAT test as a student in high school. Many students make the mistake of solving the problems the "long way" as they have been taught in class. The key to a high score is moving fast and this means attacking the problems using shortcuts and unconventional ways of solving the problems. Trust me, this is what the SAT review courses teach and I will teach it to you when I tutor.

Tax Preparation

I have prepared individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns throughout my career. I understand both the theory and mechanics associated with Federal, State, and Local Taxes including sales/use tax and other types of taxation. I have used various tax software including Turbo Tax to prepare returns.

A Genuine, Knowledgeable, and Caring Tutor

Craig is not only a great tutor, he is a great guy. I felt like he genuinely cared about me performing well in my program...checking in with me after each test, moving his schedule around to meet my needs as a student, and even offering to drive me home if we were working late. He presents things in a clear and simple manner that is easy to understand, and he will not move onto something new until
