I've had a passion for math and physics since I was a kid. I love sharing my knowledge of these topics with others and watching them improve. I'm dedicated to making sure students learn math/physics concepts rather than just memorizing formulas. I have a unique way of teaching that really helps students comprehend the topic at hand. My students say that I can sense what they need and that I have an ability to ensure that they understand the concepts. If the student is not satisfied and still does not understand the material, I will not charge.

I earned a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in 2018 from Cornell University's College of Engineering in Applied and Engineering Physics. At Cornell, I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for two classes: Mechanics and Waves. I've been tutoring students since my junior year of high school. I tutor all levels of mathematics and physics.

I received an 800 on my Math SAT, a 5 on AP Calculus BC, and 5's on all AP physics exams (Physics C Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism, Physics B).

Contact me to set up a lesson and I promise you will come out truly understanding the concepts.

I received a 5 on the AP statistics exam in 2014, and I continue to use my statistics and probability knowledge to enhance my problem solving abilities.

Elementary Education

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

After taking years of advanced math courses, I've developed a much deeper understanding of all the fundamentals, and I would love to share my understanding with those who are just learning.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I got a 97 on my Algebra 2 and Trigonometry NYS Regents. I also received 800s on the SAT Math section and the SAT Math level 2 subject test. I have gained a very strong understanding of the concepts in algebra as I've been using it as a tool to solve problems throughout my high school and college career.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I received a 97 on my Algebra 2 and Trigonometry NYS Regents when I was in 8th grade. I'm now a senior in college and have been continuing to learn more and more math over the past 7 years.
Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus is easily one of my favorite subjects. It can be understood to a great extent with the right analogies. I believe my method of ensuring that students understand the concepts instead of memorizing is effective for calculus; the subject is best retained when students have a solid understanding of the material. I received a 5 on the AP calculus BC exam, and I got an A in multivariable calculus at Cornell University.
Geometry,

Geometry

I got a 100 on the NYS geometry regents. I continue using geometry as a tool to solve problems.
Physics,

Physics

I have been tutoring in physics for the past 4 years. I believe it's crucial for the student to understand the concepts and to avoid memorization in order to better retain the material taught in physics. I've been taking higher level physics courses throughout my time at Cornell including multiple mechanics and electromagnetism courses, a waves course, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. I received a 790 on the Physics SAT 2. I also received a 5 on the AP physics exams (including the physics C mechanics exam, electricity and magnetism exam, and the physics B exam).
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I've been dealing with algebra now for years, and I feel I can help those just learning to develop a life-long understanding of it. I also received a 97 on my algebra 2 and trig regents.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I received a 98 on my precalculus final in my junior year of high school, and I got a 5 on the AP calculus BC exam my senior year of high school. At Cornell University, I received an A in multivariable calculus.

Differential Equations

I've always been fascinated with differential equations, so during my spring semester at Cornell I took the course. I learned a lot of methods for solving differential equations, as well as the reasons why they're important. I ended up with an A+ in the course, so I believe I'm qualified to tutor in differential equations.

Great...

Daniel worked great with my daughter. He went over the material step by step. He did not move on unless they understood. We will use him again. Thanks, Daniel.

Jennifer, 1 lesson with Daniel

Daniel was outstanding and developed a learning bond with my son within the first session.

He adapted his delivery to the way my son learns. Some key points are: --Explains things clearly, consistently and communicates well. --Explains concepts in different ways to help him understand. --Prepared for every session with relevant exams --Exhibited patience to take the time to repeat information if necessary. --Improved his math/science skills. --Extremely knowledgeable in math and science. --Reliable, responsive and punctual always. Overall is was a great experience and we would highly recommend him.

Thorough and patient!

Daniel helped me prepare for my first Physics midterm and made sure that I could understand the concept and find the correct answer on my own. He was encouraging and patient throughout the lesson and was extremely helpful!

Ellie, 1 lesson with Daniel

Great tutor

My daughter likes his teaching methods in physics. He is enthusiastic and seems as though he truly enjoys teaching the material. He has a vast knowledge in the STEM field.

Great job

Daniel S. took his time and reviewed the sections I needed help with until I completely understood the subject. 5 stars

Knowledgeable Tutor

In the first session, Dan assessed my son's current understanding of geometry. My son came home and said Dan was very helpful in explaining the process involved in solving the equations. He can often solve the problem without being able to explain how he got there. My son is bright but not academically focused and needs that extra push. I believe Dan will give him the push that he needs.

Knowledgable and helpful tutor

I needed help with improving my SAT II score. He helped out a lot by simplifying topics, writing charts, and drawing parallels between seemingly different topics. My practice test scores have improved quite a bit just after one session.

Great Tutor

Daniel worked with my son to help him master Columbia University's Differential Equations course. To Quote my son " I would not have passed without him". He is a five star tutor.

Very knowledgable, patient, and efficient tutor

Daniel makes physics much more understandable. He is extremely knowledgable about all aspects of physics, even at college level. He is exceptionally efficient at covering a great deal of material in a very short time. I enjoyed working with him because he is patient with his students, even though the subject can be frustrating at times. I highly recommend Daniel to anyone who wishes to learn physics with the least amount of pain.

Knowledgeable, friendly and encouraging

Daniel helped prepare my son for the Physics SAT 2 exam. He was very knowledgeable of the material and very accommodating of his schedule. He was able to effectively assess why my son was having a harder time with particular problems and streamline his approach to answering questions. He took a genuine interest in his success. I definitely recommend him as a Physics tutor.
