I have been tutoring and teaching English to foreign language learners since high school. I have taught English grammar, reading comprehension, English and European literature, test prep, and writing from basic through to advanced levels at international schools in Europe and the UK. I am experienced working with diverse communities and enjoy teaching people from a range of backgrounds. Since living in NYC, I have been working as a college prep specialist and also have taught English using the performing arts.
My global experiences lend themselves to enabling me to teach many who want to learn English from scratch or simply want to improve upon their knowledge and sharpen their skills towards further advancement.
Specialties include: ESL, English literature, Public Speaking, Reading Comprehension, and Writing
I have a range of experience working with high school students, specifically those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, preparing them for life after high school. I was a Youth Development and Post- Secondary Specialist for a non profit organization and city contracted agency supporting students through the application process, filling out grant applications, essay writing, FASFA, and Tuition Assistance Programs, and private grants and loans. I was also the go to person who negotiated with the college and universities in order to ensure my students were signed up for the correct classes, housing was secured, and personal development needs were met. I have a clear understanding of the college process in terms of the steps associated with applying, deadlines, paper work submission as well as the combination of support and personal and social development that comes with properly preparing a student to achieve success as they take their next steps in higher education.
I look forward to supporting you, improving upon your English language skills, helping shape your public speaking, and preparing you for college readiness.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with teens and young adults (both underserved and privileged youth) throughout the entire college application process including narrowing down college options, writing college essays, and submitting all financial aid applications (FASFA, TAP, and ETV). I have also led multiple college tours to both two-year and four-year colleges and universities. During the application process, I have also coached youth and facilitated workshops on how to be successful in college, what it means to be a college student, social and emotional well being, as well as finding resources to pay for college tuition and essentials to live off campus, care packages, etc.
My Writing Qualifications include expertise in developing and writing polished essays in English from start to finish (outlines, short answer responses, essays, research papers for both high school and undergraduate level).
