Welcome, my teaching philosophy is that a concrete musical foundation can be transferred across any musical genre. Having witnessed the misleading "strict classical" only foundation, I make sure all my students are introduced to composition, theory, jazz and world music within their first year. I also teach songwriting and have had much success helping students understand the fundamentals required to write any type of music. One Monday a month you can find me helping to run the famous New York Songwriter's Circle which has featured such acts such as Vanessa Carlton, Taylor Swift and Gavin DeGraw.
As a piano/vocal teacher I’ve been privately and publicly coaching for the past 8 years. I have a roster of students on the Upper East Side and have worked with studios such as Piano Power, Kidville and Acting Like a Kid, where I’ve privately taught over 25 students piano and voice. My approach encompasses combining technical exercises and stylistic technique alongside popular and standard repertoire of the student’s choosing. I’ve found that students respond well when techniques are realized through various musical genres. I’ve also worked in larger classroom settings where I’ve taught arrangements of contemporary music and accompanied for grades K3-8 (PS 183).
Completed my undergrad at NYU in Music Business and Education. Half way through a masters in music education at Hunter College. I have shared the stage with established singer-songwriters Ian Axle (Great Big World) and Jillette Johnson as well as recorded with American Idol’s finalist Marissa Pontecorvo. Songs off my debut album have led to nominations for Best Pop Male Vocal (2013 IMEA Awards), The Great American Song (2013 POP Category) and featured interviews with Pop Vulture Magazine, the Huffington Post and Buzzfeed. I was also the recipient of a 2011 Philadelphia Songwriter's Project Award, a 2011 New York Songwriter's Circle Award, a 2014 American Songwriter’s Award Nomination, a 2014 International Songwriter’s Contest award, 3 UK songwriting semi-finalist nominations a 2014 ISC award and my lyrics (Crazy Ride) have won nominations and been printed in the nationally published American Songwriter magazine.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
