I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and have both an undergraduate and master's degree in accounting from Loyola University Chicago. I worked as a teaching assistant for one year while finishing grad school and have been tutoring for the last four years, during which time I have recorded over 600 hours on MyGuru (another tutoring website).

I am also an Adjunct Professor, teaching online for Principles of Financial Accounting at The University of Mount Olive. My other Adjunct Professor position is at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, teaching Forensic Accounting.

During the week, I work full-time in Lower Manhattan, near City Hall. I am able to meet up after work (around 6PM or later) either in that area or another neighborhood in the city. An agreed-upon location at a reasonable time on the weekends would work as well.

My strongest topics include accounting, economics, and business law. I also greatly enjoy helping people complete the CPA exam (all parts: FAR/REG/AUD/BEC). I am up-to-date on the changes that were made to the CPA exam in April 2017 so I can assist with an approach to the new structure.

Other subjects I can help with include writing, English, Spanish (minored at Loyola, lived in Mexico), and proofreading/editing.

I have assisted students from the following schools in NYC: John Jay, Baruch, Columbia, NYU, Monroe, Pace, Hunter, Brooklyn College, Yeshiva, NYIT, City Tech, and Manhattan Marymount.

This is a sample of the courses with which I have assisted people over the last few years: Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I and II, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Managerial Accounting, Individual Tax, Corporate Tax, Auditing I and II, Mergers & Consolidations, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Business Finance, Business Ethics, Business Law I & II, Not-for-profit/Governmental Accounting, State & Local Tax, International Accounting, Entrepreneurial Law, Forensic Accounting I and II.

I would love to help! Contact me with any questions you may have and perhaps a few details about your situation - thanks!

Very Helpful And Patient

Chris helped me with preparing for my Financial Accounting Final Exam. We went through the past final questions together and he was very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. I would recommend him to anyone who needs help with Accounting issues.

Very knowledgeable and helpful

Chris is helping me with the FAR exam. He has both practical knowledge about strategy, and depth of knowledge on the subject matter. I feel confident about the approach that we are taking.

Thorough and effective!

Chris is extremely helpful. He explained the general material then challenged me to demonstrate that I had absorbed the new information to ensure my understanding. I felt comfortable asking questions along the way. I would recommend taking lessons from Chris.

Very patient and knows the information well!

I would not be able to pass my accounting course without Chris. He is very patient and goes through each problem until I fully understand it. Chris also immediately responds to any questions or concerns. I definitely recommend him as a tutor for any of your accounting classes!

I wouldn't know...he never tutored me - waste of money

He was very responsive in the beginning and helped me lay out a really helpful study plan, but it wasn't worth $80. We met twice - the 1st time, we drew out a timeline of my study plan and he talked about was how he helped other students; the 2nd time, I barely made a dent in the study plan and had nothing to go over during our tutoring session, but it was too late to cancel. When he got to my house I explained and he understood, but we ended up talking for almost an hour about how he was able to raise students' score by 25+ points! This made me super hopeful and he seemed to want to help. Then we had some scheduling conflicts for a few weeks until finally my exam was 2 weeks away - I texted him a few times over the weekend and got no response (after him being so responsive when I first contacted him). I left him a voicemail too and never heard back. He blatantly ignored me and failed to provide the tutoring services he offered! I feel like I literally paid him to talk about other students' success stories instead of actually tutoring me...luckily I was able to get a refund for my first lesson. I just recently passed the section I hired him for.

Tutor responded:

Glad to hear that what we discussed and worked on helped you out...and that you passed! Congrats - good luck going forward. I don't know where you came up with the "25+ points" claim (as that never came from me), but that's okay.

Extremely knowledgeable and effective

Chris knew the subject matter perfectly, and helped me regain confidence in accounting. I was able to get through the problem set very diligently.
