I am a graduate of Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech. I have over 15 years of experience tutoring privately, as well as working in classroom settings. I have held permanent positions in elementary schools, high schools, and after-school programs, and have also worked as a substitute teacher along all grade levels. This varied experience helps me understand the importance of the big picture of learning, while also being able to be flexible on a session to session basis. I have taught students from ages 2-18, and have done so in a variety of subjects, everything from English, to Judaism, to American History, to Theatre. I have done a great deal of test preparation work as well, and know how to break down that process into quantifiable skills that will make test-taking a much less scary prospect!

Many of my students have had personal and learning difficulties that have placed roadblocks in front of them and kept them from achieving their highest potential. We have worked through their struggles together and found their unique strengths that have helped them persevere and thrive in our learning environment. I will work with you to personalize your learning experience, and we will collaborate to make the experience interesting and engaging. Learning can be frustrating sometimes, and I try to use humor to diffuse the stresses and creativity to keep it fun. Each student has the capacity to succeed; we just have to find your way of accessing the material and being confident in your abilities. Mistakes and challenges can be the greatest learning opportunities, and I promise to help keep frustration at bay and help you move to a place of understanding. I am cheerleader, advisor, and avid supporter to all of my students. Your successes are my successes.

I was the Health Teacher and teaching assistant at the 2nd Grade level at a prestigious private school for one year, stepping in when a teacher became ill and had to take a leave of absence. I have led classrooms at each of these grade levels in after school programs and as a substitute teacher and have also tutored students in this age group on a one-to-one basis. I have a great deal of patience and make learning fun so kids enjoy their learning experience, even when they have challenges.
