I have an M.A and Ph.D. in anthropology from the New School for Social Research and a Certificate in TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University. At present, I am teaching Academic Writing at Baruch College and ESL at Westchester Community College. In addition, I have taught anthropology courses at Eugene Lang College and Parsons School of Design. I love teaching because it gives me an opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and, in terms of TESOL, from a variety of countries.
In terms of tutoring, I believe in student-centered learning and in providing tools for students to increase their skills in writing, reading and speaking. I specialize in ESL and tutoring for the TOEFL test as well as academic writing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a TESOL Certificate from Teachers College, Columbia University. Since September 2014, I have been tutoring at Baruch College, New York in academic writing and TOEFL prep. I also teach an adult ESL class through Community impact, a program based at Columbia.
As part of the TESOL Certificate program at Columbia University, we were required to take a class in Pedagogical Grammar. We were also required to teach principles of grammar to students in Columbia's summer ESL courses. Teaching grammar is also a part of the adult ESL and Academic English classes I currently teach.
I worked as a part time freelance proofreader for A.B. Longman in New York from 1997 to 2006. I specialized in proofing academic textbooks. In addition, I have Ph.D. and M.A. degrees, which necessitated composing a dissertation, thesis and countless papers in academic English.
