About Eve

My passion for education derives from a strong belief in the power of pedagogy, the method and practice of teaching. With over nine years of tutoring experience, I have had the pleasure of working with a diverse group of students ranging from 5th graders to college students, those with learning challenges, to those who are English Language Learners.

I have catered to all my students needs, while creating opportunities for growth. While my pedagogy begins with learning and assessing my students goals, I pride myself on not teaching for a quick fix. I begin looking at my students educational foundation, gaining insight to how they can improve their overall methods and attitude towards any specific subject or education in general!

Confidence does wonders for learning. Through my dedication, attention, and patience I've brought student grades from D's to B's and beyond, whether in the span of a year or as little as three months. I encourage my students, manage expectations, and create a foundation to build self-esteem. It's through these strategies my students become stronger, knowledgeable, self-assured learners.

I specialize in writing, research methods, and critical theories among social science. Writing is a powerful skill that brings one success beyond the classroom. I prepare my students for skills in effective writing which will travel from elementary school, higher education, the workplace, and beyond. I work hard to re-work how my students begin in their writing processes, cutting out bad habits and replacing them with new ones, which stay with them long after our sessions end. Through research methods and theories, I help my students break down complicated concepts into simple ideas they will relate to and comprehend.

With a 12-hour cancellation policy, my schedule is immensely flexible! My location is highly accessible as well, spanning throughout Manhattan.

I look forward to helping you master whatever challenge you are facing!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

I feel confident in my abilities to help shape and develop careers as I have worked in various levels of Higher Education and Student Leadership for over 5 years. During my undergraduate career as Resident Assistant and Vice President of my student body I often facilitated programming for students on how to pursue a myriad of career paths. Furthermore, as a double major, I have experience in exploring different paths which would meet both my qualifications and passions. As a graduate student, I worked as a Hall Director for Barnard College where I oversaw undergraduate students and helped them facilitate programming and resources surrounding career development.

Drawing

I have been drawing since as long as I can remember. In addition to taking informal drawing classes as a young adult, I also considered minoring in Art during my undergraduate career. Due to this, I've completed courses such as: Intro to Drawing and Design and Intro to Studio Art where I received an A- in each. I am very familiar with many drawing concepts and strategies.

Microsoft Outlook

I have been using Microsoft Outlook for over 5 years. I comprehend how to utilize the calendar, phonebook, how to arrange meetings and more. I am very familiar with this program and have been able to solve any questions myself.

Microsoft Windows

I have been using Microsoft Windows for over 15 years. I understand the software and how to solve general conflicts and housekeeping issues.

Study Skills

Due to my extensive time in academia my study skills have progressed as I have met different challenges. Due the increasing demands from undergraduate to graduate school, I have had to learn how to properly balance a heavy schedule. Through schedules of intensive writing courses and seminars requiring an immense reading load I have had to understand how to work past difficult vocabulary and create appropriate timelines in completing extensive research papers. Through all of this as seen in my resume, I have held many leaderships roles and worked over 30 hours a week while a full time student. Aside from this I have working with young adults from middle school to high school where we've worked to rebuild how they form study habits.

I work to learn where a student struggles first, and pin point what exercises they can do, so that their study habits will be both more effective and less timely.

Knowledgeable and Patient.

I had my first lesson today and it was intriguing. She helped me understand what I needed to improve with my writing and taught me how to write a response to questions properly. Time also passed by fast while studying with her.
