I have a great deal of experience working with children; however, I am happy to work with students of all ages and abilities. Over time, I have found that the key to successful tutoring is patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for the subject matter.

Special Needs

ADHD,

ADHD

As part of my master's program in Elementary Special and General Education, I took several courses on how to most effectively teach students with diverse special needs, including ADHD. Through that program, I studied research-based practices on how to teach and motivate students different interests and learning styles. My approach to tutoring students with ADHD is to individualize my lessons to incorporate their interests and limit the number of distractions in the learning environment.

I studied Special Education (specifically teaching students Autism and Intellectual Disabilities) at Columbia University. As part of that program, for one year, I served as a student teacher at two different schools, and both of the classrooms I worked in contained students with special needs.

Very patient tutor

Erica worked with my daughter for one session and she was so patient and encouraging. My daughter really dislikes math but she had such a good lesson and felt more confident. We already scheduled our next session with her!

Very patient tutor

Helped me prepare for a math exit exam . I was very weak with many of my math skills . Erica reviewed everything with me and worked really hard to make sure I understood it all .
