About Ross

Have you always wanted to sing, but your friends tell you to be quiet? Are you afraid to join in when people sing "Happy Birthday"? Do you already sing, and simply get tired more quickly than you would like? Learn how to sing any style like you were always meant to. Kitsch aside, I love to music and I love to sing. I teach in order to share a piece of that love with others, and help them find some of the joy that I experience while singing. My students have ranged in age from 6 - 85 and have been elderly choristers singing for sheer joy, NYU Tisch students, and even Broadway performers. My results stem from the fact that I am neither just a performer nor just a teacher. I am actively and passionately both.

Whatever difficulties you are encountering and regardless of what genre you like to sing, I can help you feel better about singing and feel better while singing. As an Adjunct Professor at NYU, my teaching is based in vocal pedagogy, which means that we will work with your body to free your voice, decrease strain and stress, and, in the process, expand your range.

Contact me any time to find our more or arrange a trial lesson, and see the difference a real voice lesson can make.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Lightroom

As a headshot and architectural photographer, Adobe Lightroom is a huge part of my day-to-day workflow.

Music Theory

While I've been a musician for many years, my formal training in music theory began in high school. Originally a percussionist, I thought that truly understanding music theory was out of reach. However, after a bachelors degree in music from Brandeis University and my current pursuit of a Masters of Music from NYU, I firmly believe that anyone can grasp the fundamentals of theory.

Photography

I'm a professional headshot photographer with knowledge of full camera functionality, as well as contemporary subjects - HDR, time-lapse, etc.

Voice (Music)

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Voice from Brandeis University, and Dual-degree MM from NYU in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy. I've taught voice as a primary source of income for the last six years including a position as an adjunct professor of voice at NYU.
