Hello, my name is Wayne. I am excited to help you with every aspect of English: ACT/SAT writing, grammar, vocabulary and ACT/SAT reading. My students' success, is "my" success. Seeing that light bulb come on above their heads and seeing that "ahaaa" smile on their faces is my ultimate goal. Six years of teaching English in middle and high school has made me a well-rounded educator. I graduated from Northern Michigan University, which boasts one of the best education programs in the country, and possess an English teaching certificate in Michigan and Arizona (Grades 6-12).

My tutoring style is direct; I try to establish where my student needs assistance. I also prefer to challenge and lead my students so they discover the answer on their own instead of just simply giving it to them. I always make it a priority to incorporate fun, excitement and interactive, elements into my lessons, and I have the innate ability to explain complex things in multiple ways and break them down so that the average lay person will understand. Another strategy I like to use is analogies; I draw similarities between something the student is familiar with and what they are currently struggling with.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a member of the ballroom club for three years in college where I became proficient in East Coast Swing, learned a little Waltz, Tango, Salsa, and Cha Cha. I later became the president of the Salsa Club when it broke away from Ballroom, and I later went on to teach Salsa as a part-time job.
I have played baseball since 1987. I have converted to softball, but the fundamentals are the same for hitting, throwing, fielding, running the bases, strategy etc. The only major differences are the pitching, space between the bases and taking leads.
I have been either the head coach or an assistant coach for a basketball team since 2008. Typically, I coach freshmen and because I normally develop their fundamental skills: shooting, dribbling and defense.
Over the past two years, I've served as college adviser for my 11th grade and senior students. Even now my former students and their parents consult me about matters concerning college even though I no longer work for that school.
I have two children in college, and I advise both of them, so I have a lot of knowledge on the topic.
I played college football, and I have four years as assistant football coach at various levels, and two years as head coach. As assistant coach, I assisted in the development at various positions: corner back, safety, running back, quarterback, wide receiver, offensive and defensive line, and special teams.
I became the president of the Salsa club my junior year in college and later went on to teach Salsa as a part-time job. I also went to many workshops and took advanced lessons from professionals.
I've played baseball since high school and softball since 1991. I served as an umpire for five years during college and assistant coach at the junior high and high school level for over eight years. I specialized in coaching the infield and outfield.
I was an assistant coach at Mohave High School for three years where I coached shot put, discus, and high jump. I also attended Olympian Jarred Rome's throwing clinic in 2012, in Phoenix, AZ.
