Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

I have coached in a high school league for Monroe Woodbury High School students. I have also played in numerous seasons for Basketball City corporate league. I am a student of the game and appreciate what it takes to be proficient regardless of natural skill ability.

Business

I graduated from Northeastern University with a dual major in finance & insurance and management information systems. Moreover, for graduate school I attended Brown University and IE Business School to attain an MBA. For my career, I have worked on Wall St. as an equities trader and vice president of fixed income operations. Currently, I am an entrepreneur with ventures in technology and real estate. I have experience in management, sales & trading, business development, real estate and technology management.

Career Development

I have completed career development modules at Northeastern University through the co-op program (during four years). Additionally, I completed a year-long career development class that was led by the Director of Career Services during business school at Brown University and IE Business School. Furthermore, at any given time I am assisting several friends and colleagues with resumes, cover letters, interview preparation and other career related activities.

College Counseling

As an alumnus, I interview prospective students for Brown University as well as mentor some of these candidates. As a former national officer for the National Society of Black Engineers I conducted college preparation workshops for high school students and graduate school application workshops for college students. Furthermore, I currently mentor business school students regarding professional development,

Fitness

I coached a team in a high school basketball league. Furthermore, I ran track and field in school and played rugby until the semi-pro level. Additionally, I train for and participate in obstacle races such as Spartan Race and Warrior Dash.

Marketing

I have an MBA from Brown University and IE Business School. As director of strategic partnerships and finance for NSBE, I was responsible for marketing programs and selling sponsorships to corporate and non-profit entities. Most recently, I am vice president of business development for a mobile software development company. I perform market research, compile marketing materials and pitch to prospective clients.

Microsoft Outlook

I have been using Microsoft Outlook and use it everyday for work. When I worked in fixed income operations, I worked directly with software developers who trained me how to use the application to become an advanced user.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I use PowerPoint on a weekly basis for pitch decks and presentations for management, clients and the investment community. During undergrad and grad school I had to use it for all of the classes to submit homework assignments as well as for individual and group projects. As a visual tool PowerPoint is quite dynamic and should be used to enhance the content of one's presentation.

Microsoft Windows

I have been using Windows since 1987, and I consider myself an expert user. I am proficient with the following versions of Windows and most recently Windows 8: 2.1, 3.0, 3.1, 4.0, Windows 95, 4.0 NT, 4.1, Windows 98, Windows XP/ XP Professional, Windows 2000, Windows 7, Windows 8.

Prealgebra

A brief academic snapshot: I averaged 94.5% in high school. Thereafter, I attended Northeastern U. in Boston where I double majored in finance and management information systems. I graduated from business school '13 from Brown University and IE Business School, a program in which I was co-class president. I have professional experience in finance, technology, and sales.

Public Speaking

While at college I facilitated over 50 workshops at 20+ different institutions (universities) regarding topics including, but not limited to business, investments, public speaking, the art of networking, and fundraising. Also, I facilitated such workshops at conferences. Most recently, I was a keynote speaker at CNN/TimeWarner for the annual Engineering The World conference in New York City.

QuickBooks

As vice president of business development and Finance for Acenonyx International, one of my functions is financial control. I use QuickBooks on a weekly basis to manage accounts, reconcile and run reports. I use both the online CD-rom versions of the software.

World History

My father worked for the UN for over 25 years, so I have had the opportunity of living, going to school and traveling around the world. I have been exposed to a deep understanding of world history, geopolitics and anthropology, which is often watered down in the American school system. Let me help you put context and better understand world history!
