Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I received my Master's Degree in TESOL from the (Ivy League) University of Pennsylvania in 2005. I also received my CELTA certification from Teaching House New York in 2008. In 2009, I taught English at International House Prague. Locally, I teach at Hunter College's International English Language Institute and I have also taught at Columbia University's American Language Program.

Very Pleasant

I had a first lesson with Nicole. I experienced her as very competent, pleasant, and fun. Often, these three qualities do not come together as a package, but she is! In particular, I appreciate her responsiveness to a student's particular need.
