I received an MS in physics from New York University in 2018 after received a dual-major BA in math and physics from NYU in 2017. This spring I completed a JD program at George Washington University Law School. I have tutored in both a freelance and salaried capacity for close to 7 years now, providing one-on-one lessons to college, high-school, and middle-school students in a wide range of subjects (mostly math, physics, and SAT prep), developing intuition and technique for instructing...

What was so frustrating was how confusing and illogical the questions seemed but eventually I ascertained the tricks and schemes everyone should be familiar with for approaching this section of the exam; and I certainly can pass this intuition along to students who are struggling. I remember the cynicism I developed in preparation for the exam and the dwindling self confidence, so I can surely empathize with students enduring similar dilemmas and, in so doing, can develop capable methods of overcoming the seemingly insurmountable mental barriers.

I took an SAT prep class when I was studying for my exam and it taught me invaluable techniques and methods for approaching every section of the test, specifically in writing. However, I have always been a bit of a savant, having MLA grammar and style rules as well as copious vocabulary drilled into my brain from a young age by my literature PhD mother. In fact, I didn't miss a single writing question when I took the SAT. Beyond the SAT, editing is one of my favorite activities because it allows me to expel my pedantic writing knowledge and this helped me substantially when correcting grammar on the test.

I am currently pursuing a Classics major at New York University where, this past spring semester, I completed Intermediate Latin 2: Virgil. I also scored a gold medal (perfect score) on the National Latin Exam, level 3 and a bronze medal for level 4 in high school, both of which assess knowledge in classical mythology as well as simply Latin acuity. I have read translations of Greek classics and, beginning in the fall semester, plan to begin learning ancient Greek as a language.

In the fall semester of 2013, I enrolled in a Philosophy class in the field of logic as well as a seminar on Dostoyevsky and Modernism, a class in which my professor strongly emphasized that the latter would feature just as prominently as the former, if not more so. We therefore covered most western philosophy essentially spanning from the New Testament to neo-Realism and materialism (late 19th century). I wrote an extensive research paper for this class that required copious understanding of various philosophies and, every week, wrote a 500-word response to some sort of scholarly text. In high school, I studied to great lengths existentialism (mainly Sartre) as well as other ideologies such as transcendentalism and romanticism.

Eli helped my daughter go over ACT math problems. She enjoyed the session and was a lot of help. Eli did a great job. We will also use him for help in IB math this year.
