About MATTHEW

I come from a family of teachers. I grew up with the subjects of students and learning. I chose to finish my college degree as an adult, and graduated cum laude from Columbia University in New York with a degree in Art History. While at Columbia I was an employee of the Academic Resources Department for three years where I tutored numerous students in a subject outside of my major. I also tutored students in Art History, particularly with the writing of their papers and with help in understanding Art Historical theories.
I can say with complete confidence that I am an excellent tutor. I am punctual, prepared and I know my subject matter. I am enthusiastic and I am 100% committed to bringing out the fullest potential of every student with whom I work. I would be an excellent help to students struggling with reading, writing, composition, Art History, History, as well as other subjects and academically related services.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I was an Ivy League student who overcame issues with ADHD and managed through hard work and determination to graduate cum laude. Throughout my time at Columbia, I tutored on my own and for the university. I am extremely clever and insightful at identifying issues and problems with other students, be it problems with comprehension, or other issues related to work and study habits. I strongly believe in the potential of the individual and the ability each person has to overcome all obstacles.
