About Elizabeth

Hello future student,

Thank you for your interest in tutoring!

I have been helping nursing students through tutoring mentoring, and preceptorship for over 5 years. I currently work at some of the major hospital system in the NYC area including Lenox Hill, Montefiore, Mount Sinai, and other HHC hospitals, performing most of my work in the emergency department and intensive care units.

I have a love for nursing and it is a great pleasure to help nursing students who work hard in their program but fail to see the results they would expect to see after putting in work on their own. The goal of tutoring is to improve grades and help pass exams with flying colors, and to allow the student to realize where to focus when studying and how to grasp concepts. Critical thinking and test-taking skills are imperative to learn and techniques on how to prepare for NCLEX-style exams. Content review and practice questions are expected in every lesson. I am available outside of lessons for questions and feedback. Most of my students have seen improvements after the first few lessons, and many have passed their classes as a results of weekly lessons, with even higher grades than expected!

Currently, I offer online lessons which are very user-friendly and easy, almost similar to an online class. The computer is used as a laptop with a free program: join.me. No video or microphone necessary. Through the use of a cell phone conversation and the computer as a blackboard we go over concepts with notes and an interactive discussion and focus on the key elements of what exam questions would be expected to show up. Tutoring subjects include: FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING, MED-SURG NURSING, PSYCH NURSING, PEDIATRIC NURSING, EMERGENCY/TRAUMA/DISASTER MANAGEMENT, and basic pharmacology.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have prior to our first lesson. It is important that I am a good fit for your needs and Wyzant currently has a first-lesson money-back guarantee. My schedule is varied but flexible so I can make arrangements for us to sync.

I look forward to making you reach your goals and become a successful RN candidate.

Best regards,

Elizabeth D, BSN, RN, CEN

Information about Lessons and Preparation for Exams:

Currently, I hold lessons online using a platform called join.me - free and easy which allows student to view my desktop where we go over content and questions for exam preparation. Analyzing studying skills and test-taking strategies is part of the lesson along with practicing critical thinking and reinforcing content. Ideally, in preparation for exams, it is suggested that the student take 1-2 lessons for 1-2 hours weekly up to 2-4 weeks prior to testing, depending on the student's knowledge of topic.
