MY SKILLS
I am proficient in the most widespread, industry-standard software, particularly Adobe PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR, and INDESIGN. That's not just theory. I master these programs because I use them on a daily basis for my work. My skill-sets range from photo-retouch to vector graphics, from banners to logo design, from brochures to website layouts, from books to album covers. Proven, real-world experience allows me to cover every aspect of the design process thoroughly. I don't merely teach how to use software, I demonstrate how to transform software in a valuable professional asset.

I am a long-time HTML and CSS coder as well. I show the student how to use design and coding skills together to build a functional website that is also aesthetically spot on.

I am well versed in BRANDING and VISUAL IDENTITY thanks to my graduate studies in marketing and direct work-experience. The student can learn how to plan, research, and develop coherent design guidelines for companies and organizations. From creative brief and concept sketching to the final deliverable, I address and focus on every single step of the creative process.

I also offer PORTFOLIO evaluation, RESUME optimization, and SOCIAL-NETWORK profile's improvement.

IF YOU ARE A STUDENT
Thanks to the work done together, I have seen many students succeeding in their study programs. But my aim is to deliver more than solutions for college classes. The design experience acquired working for clients in UK, US, and ITALY translates in precious, practical tips that help students landing a future job position in the field. The design industry is very competitive in New York City. Don't choose a tutor with the only goal of passing a class. Look at the big picture. You need to be job-ready when you graduate. I can give you the tools you need to actually work in the design field. That's a surplus that could make the difference in your life.

IF YOU ARE AN ART DIRECTOR
Are you a master in brainstorming and possess remarkable conceptual skills, but you are not proficient in the Adobe software? I can help you acquire the technical skills you need to make your concepts look visually relevant.

IF YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL WEB & GRAPHIC DESIGNER
You know how to use some Adobe programs, but you want to learn every single feature available in each of them. I can help you. You want to stay up-to-date with the latest software releases and relative new features. I can help you as well! You want to optimize your workflow to quickly complete design projects while retaining professional quality. You are in the right place! You need to acquire knowledge in print-related matters, from a deeper understanding of color to pre-flight/pre-press checks, to the final packaging. I am here for you!

IF YOU ARE A FASHION DESIGNER
I can teach you how to reproduce your sketches in a digital format, from the croqui template to print-ready flat sheets. From overall forms to complex patterns, I will address every issue and provide effective solutions.

IF YOU ARE A WEB DEVELOPER
You are a code ninja, but you feel you are missing the design knowledge that makes a website/app/widget aesthetically pleasing and on target. Well, you found the guy you were looking for!

INFO AND REQUIREMENTS
We can meet at any public location in New York City, coffee shops, as well as your place. The sessions have a minimum length of two hours. You will need your own MAC or PC COMPUTER—with the software you want to learn installed in it—and a mouse in working conditions. Please, only contact me if you care about your grades and/or your career.

Adobe Illustrator has been my primary design tool for over ten years, because vector elements offer an incomparable flexibility when it comes to developing concepts. I have used Illustrator in countless projects, including logos, posters, illustrations, website mock-ups, banners, and book covers. Throughout the years I have acquired proficiency in creating and manipulating complex vector objects, as well as in advanced coloring techniques. I taught Adobe Illustrator during my tutoring activity at CUNY (City University of New York).

Adobe InDesign

I have used InDesign since 2008 for nearly every type of print design project: book covers and layouts; brochures; posters; CD covers and booklets; collateral and stationery products; postcards; flyers. I taught Adobe Photoshop during my tutoring activity at CUNY (City University of New York).
Graphic Design,

Graphic Design

I am a trained graphic designer with academic education and more than ten years of proven experience. I have a solid knowledge of the design principles and their application to real-world projects. These include Gestalt theory, color theory, typography, and grid-based layout systems. I am a passionate, independent scholar in history of graphic design. Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Bauhaus, De Stijl, Bauhaus, Constructivism, and The International Style are among my favorite design movements. I have worked for clients in UK, US, and Italy. I have dealt with several typologies of products. I focus on branding and visual identity. Projects of this kind include logos, brochures, and collateral design. Other design projects include book covers and layouts, posters, CD covers and booklets, postcards, and flyers. I don't have a specific design style because this changes depending on the requirements of the project. This also allows me to stay relevant in terms of creativity. Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is an important part of my creative process. It's the tool that helps me gather ideas and develop concepts before moving to the drawing board or the design software. I make use of many basic and advanced features such as Working with Templates, Using Document-wide Settings, Document Navigation, Page Layout Options, Tables, Images Management, Document Revisions, Paragraphs Formatting, Content Flow Management, Watermarks, Video Management, References, Table of Contents, Document Protection, and Document Printing Management.

Although I prefer hand-coding HTML5 and CSS3, I find very convenient using some of Dreamweaver's built-in features. More recent versions of the software integrate an interesting platform for developing websites for mobile devices. Fantastic personality, extremely talented, completely patient, genuine and compassionate tutor!

Gianluca, was nothing short of amazing. It's a rarity these days to find a teacher that encompasses all those traits, (as mentioned in "review title".) I am always a little nervous in these situations and he really made me feel at ease. Gianluca really cares about you as a student. He creates a great learning environment and never leaves you hanging on a limb. I learned a lot from him and plan on utilizing his services as often as I can. He's a gem.

Caroline, 1 lesson with Gianluca

Fantastic tutor!

Gianluca is extremely knowledgeable, talented teacher and designer. He knows his subject matter deeply with years and years of industry experience to back up his innate talent. He's very patient and also will work specifically on whatever level the student requests- from beginner to very advanced (he worked with me on advanced adobe illustrator and graphic design). I give Gianluca my highest recommendation.
