About Eric

My name is Eric and I am currently a recent graduate of Columbia University. I recently worked full-time as the program coordinator for the Launch Learning K-8 program at Launch Math & Science Centers and I currently work running my own startup company and helping as a private tutor for students.

My main goal in working with students is to increase their motivation to learn. This is done through a variety of teaching tools I have gained both through working with students individually since November 2013 and working at Launch Math and Science Centers from 2014 - November 2016. It is important for students to not only do well in their current courses, which is also covered if they are struggling, but also to engage in more interactive activities in order to help them better understand the concepts and encourage them to be more motivated to learn more outside of my sessions or their classes.

I also have a lot of experience helping students prepare for upcoming tests, whether for classes or standardized exams. I can be available on short notice if necessary in order to ensure the students I work with are properly prepared and get the highest quality service at the times they need the help.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

I played basketball throughout high school. When I did a postgraduate year of high school I was an assistant coach on the JV team and then at Duke I spent a year working 40 hours a week as a student manager under Coach K. I have continued to love and whenever possible play or teach the game.

Great tutor with lots of patience

Eric works really well with my 13 year old son. He is very patient and always make sure that my son understands the mathematical concepts, rather than having him just memorizing the problem.
