I have a passion for kids and for teaching. I graduated from William & Mary in 1997 with a degree in Elementary Education K-8. I was certified in Virginia then transferred over my license to NYC. I work in Human Resources but used to teach 4th grade in Virginia. I have worked in HR in New York City for 15 years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
