In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I spent my undergraduate career studying the field colloquially known as "Biblical Scholarship." This is an interdisciplinary field combining geography, archaeology, Assyriology, Egyptology, literary criticism, and textual analysis. I specialize in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. I also taught a Religious Studies course.
I taught religious studies to undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. This included material on Judaism, Islam, Christianity, indigenous faiths, Buddhism, Hinduism, and the philosophy of atheism. It also included the study of Geertz, Durkheim, Eliade, and Diana Eck. Further, I have a Master's degree in Modern Jewish history.
