The City College of New York (Chemistry)
New York University (Enrolled)
Hi, I'm Dan. I grew up in Brooklyn and now I live in Manhattan with my fiancee and two cats.
I am within one year of earning my Ph.D. in chemistry from NYU. I have been studying computational chemistry, a field which requires proficiency in chemistry, math, physics, and computer programming. Beginning with AP chemistry in high school, I have been studying chemistry for more than ten years.
I have taught groups of 8-72 students in lecture and laboratory settings for chemistry. In one-on-one settings, I have tutored for a variety of subjects and exams, including: calculus for placement (where a student could end up in pre-calculus, calculus 1 or calculus 2), chemistry for the SAT and GRE subject tests, and math for the GRE quantitative section.
I pride myself on being able to find the right way to communicate scientific and mathematical concepts to anybody who wants to learn them. Sometimes you work hard and study properly, but you can't quite understand what is in front of you. Sometimes it's because you're one of hundreds in a college lecture and you'll never get noticed, and sometimes it's because science education isn't perfect. It evolves, but never quickly enough. Subjects can be taught in a strange order, or without mentioning key ideas which are "obvious" to a textbook author.
Please contact me if you're interested in a patient tutor and a serious advantage in your science or math class. Hi, I'm Dan. I grew up in Brooklyn and now I live in Manhattan with my fiancee and two cats.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
