Emory University (Economics)
I graduated from Emory University with high honors in May 2013, with a BA in Economics and Interdisciplinary Studies (concentration: Intercultural Studies). In college (and previously in high school), I was involved in peer tutoring. I tutored over 100 students in introduction to and intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics as well as statistics through Emory's Academic Advising and Support Programs in the Office for Undergraduate Education during my junior and senior years.
After graduation, I traveled to Spain for a few months to live out a dream: to practice Spanish and learn Flamenco. While in Spain, I took a certification course for teaching English as a foreign language and put what I learned to use in private tutoring sessions and in my work as an au pair, where I taught children English.
Now that I'm back home, I'm looking forward to helping students in ATL reach their educational goals in terms of succeeding in economics or math classes, using my experiences in classes as well as my experiences tutoring and breaking down topics so that they are easier to comprehend and apply. I also look forward to supporting non-native English speakers attain proficiency in English, through helping with reading, writing, speaking and listening. Not only am I a certified ESL teacher (by the London Teacher Training School), I have been a student of 4 foreign languages (Arabic, French, Spanish and Chinese) myself - so I know what it is like to learn a new language and to face the challenge of communicating in a language that is not one's mother tongue! Also, as a result of this exposure, I have a good understanding of some language systems and can hopefully target the source of problem areas more easily.
I enjoy working with both children and adults, and have experience with both.
I look forward to hearing from you and supporting your efforts in achieving success in Economics, Math or ESL courses! I have had many teachers and professors. Hands down: Rebecca is one of the best! She is extremely personable, accommodating, fun and down to Earth. More than anything else though, she is VERY passionate, VERY patient, and VERY knowledgeable about economics. The thing I loved most about her, the thing that makes her a phenomenal and one of a kind teacher is that she is committed to making sure that yo know and feel confident in what she is teaching you (in my case economics). If you need help in any of her subjects but more specifically ECONOMICS, I urge you to choose Rebecca. You will not be disappointed. Seriously one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is wise beyond her years. I pray she becomes a professor one day because there is a generation of students who need to learn from her wisdom! Thank you, Rebecca!
Thank you, Andrew, for your kind words! I really hope the tutoring helped you get the grade you wanted. Regardless, I know the hard work you put into understanding the material has paid off, as I've seen so much progress. I wish you all the best!
Rebecca tutored me for my Principles of Microeconomics class at Georgia Tech. I contacted her later on in the semester, and she helped me get the job done. I finished with an A in the class. Rebecca has a busy schedule, but she was more than willing to make time to accommodate me. She explained concepts very well, and she helped me work through my mistakes. I would recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for help in economics.
Thank you so much, Brent! I'm glad I was able to help you achieve your goal. Congrats on the A!
Always ready nice, on time with all kinds of materials for the class. I will recommend her to anybody.
My daughter is very pleased and comfortable with Rebecca. She is very patient and really helping my daughter come along with various concepts in algebra. After each tutorial session, we receive a summary of what the lesson incorporated. We are looking forward to continuing with Rebecca tutorials as school moves forward. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Rebecca is a very knowledgeable tutor and helped my daughter with her Honors Algebra 2. She was able to instill a new confidence in her "ability to do math" as well as teaching her the subject. My daughter was very impressed with Rebecca stating her tutor "rocks" to her friends. Rebecca made a big impression. My daughter has used other tutors, so she has previous experiences to set her bar with. I highly recommend Rebecca.
I am a native Arabic speaker. I grew up in the Middle East, where we had Arabic classes at school, and I took an Arabic class in college to reinforce what I had learned. I am confident in my ability to help non-native Arabic speakers decipher the Arabic alphabet and practice basics (up to two years of Arabic in college). I am not interested in tutoring students who require a higher level of Arabic, but would love to help anyone who is just starting out. I would also bring first-hand knowledge of Arabic cultures, which is often important or at least interesting to Arabic language learners.
