Texas State Univeristy (Music Performance)
I believe everyone can learn to play music. As a professional musician with over 10 years of private teaching experience, I attract students who have a genuine love and appreciation for music and a strong willingness to learn. My focus is piano, saxophone, flute and clarinet, and I teach all ages and levels of ability and work well with adult beginners as well as children from ages 8 and up. Some of my students learn in a very traditional manner, focusing on fundamentals and a pedagogy which utilizes various method books, while other students simply wish to learn a tune from their favorite pop artist. Either way is valid and I do what it takes to meet their needs. Each lesson is customized to ensure that my students learn what they want to, and within the course of the lessons, we not only cover fundamentals, but we also learn to create and compose original music to strengthen their innate musical abilities.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a professional saxophonist in NYC, I've had to play clarinet as a double in live performance situations. I also studied classical clarinet with Richard Nunemaker, principal clarinetist in the Houston Symphony, and I've studied with David Pino, clarinet professor at Texas State University.
As part of acquiring my B.A in music, I was required to take piano proficiency classes. I have 6 years of private piano instruction experience in Brooklyn and NYC specializing in beginning piano students. My instruction utilizes various methods including the Alfred's Basic Piano Book, the Hanon book for technical exercises, the Dozen a Day method and many others. I also teach composition using piano based perspective methods.
