I find teaching to be the most rewarding profession and sincerely look forward to helping many more students succeed. As a young child, I was inspired by my own teachers who showed me that learning was a fun, creative experience that incorporates multiple modalities. I formed close relationships with my teachers and looked up to them as role models who really cared about me. I have incorporated my beliefs as a young student into my teaching practice as an elementary school teacher for the past seven years.
I am a New York State certified teacher in grades 1-6 as well as a New York State School Building Leader from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I recently completed my second masters degree in Educational Leadership and Administration in order to make an even larger impact upon students' lives. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I completed 6 Fine Arts courses including Figure Drawing 1 and 2, Mural Art, Drawing 1, Painting 1, and Painting 2 at the University of Pennsylvania. I also completed Figure Drawing and Painting at the School of Visual Arts in New York. I studied Figure in the Landscape and Still Life from a Different Perspective at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
I taught an enrichment cluster in drawing and painting for 3 years to elementary school children. I also took a Teaching Art course for Elementary Educators at Hunter College as part of my master's degree in Education that I completed in 2008.

I have experience teaching essay structure and response to literature to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. I have also done extensive SAT prep work with high school juniors and seniors, including preparation for the writing section of the test.
