About Ana

I am a junior Computer Science major at Fordham University. As a part of the Combined Plan Engineering Program, I will continue my studies in Computer Science at Columbia University this fall.

I graduated Abington Senior High School ninth in my class. I received a 2160 on the SAT: Verbal: 670, Math: 690, and Writing: 800, and a 720 on the SAT 2 Mathematics 2 exam. I received a 5 on each of the following AP exams: Calculus, Statistics, Literature, Government, and Spanish. In college, I have taken advanced Literature classes, Politics, Philosophy, Computer Science, Latin, Religious Studies, and Anthropology. Both of my parents are teachers, so I understand what methods are effective. I tutored my fellow classmates throughout my rigorous AP courses and throughout college courses, and have been tutoring Math, Science, SAT, and more subjects for a year now. I learned many tricks throughout my time studying for the SAT. I even began taking Latin so I could look at the roots of vocabulary words and make educated guesses, which was infinitely helpful! I have an excellent and efficient way of teaching you how the SAT Writing portion, and help you toward an 800 as well! I have many tricks, but I will show you the foundations before we get to short cuts, so you learn for yourself or create your own way of remembering the most important concepts.

My goal is to assist you in honing the skills you already have in a way that will help you think more critically throughout the rest of your time in the world of academia. I am extremely dedicated and ensure that you will understand the concept. I think it is important to learn this because it breeds a better outlook in the future, creating a self-sufficient nature that will help you throughout life! I had a tutor throughout my senior year of high school who I created a very close bond with. She was very wise and helpful. I hope to impart that same patience and assistance to all of my students!

As a college student, the concept of learning from high school is still fresh in my mind, and I remember that teachers or textbooks sometimes do not completely clarify a concept that will later on be very important. That's why I strive to make every aspect of my lesson clear--I do not move on unless you understand thoroughly. I will not only teach you the subjects you need help in, but how to think critically in the future. My approach is to teach you how to study and ask questions to yourself so you can effectively solve any problem that may arise.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

SAT Reading

I work closely with my students to emphasize the importance of strategies while taking this test. Studying vocabulary and taking times practice is essential, but committing to an effective strategy is paramount. I encourage my students to constantly ask themselves questions to evade the tricks the test designs to separate the test takers.

SAT Writing

I received an 800 in the writing portion of the SAT and have a great strategy to teach you how to achieve something similar!
