I am a student at NYU College of Dentistry with an undergraduate degree in biology. I have years of tutoring experience dating back to my high school days, primarily in the sciences, but also in algebra, trig, writing/proofreading, and basic Spanish.
I am very enthusiastic about passing on my knowledge to help other succeed. Every student learns differently and requires the tutor to tailor his/her method to what works best for the student. I try to break down difficult concepts into its most basic elements, and to draw analogies to the students' areas of interest to make abstract concepts more tangible. Very very knowledgeable in the field that he's tutoring! Great! A little pricey in my opinion but it's worth it!
Adam immediately connected with my son and they engaged in a back-and-forth dialogue of questions and answers. It's hard to believe that my son discussed chemistry in-depth for an hour and a half without a break and then afterwards said not only did he learn a lot but that he enjoyed it as well! It says a lot about Adam.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
