The King's College - New York (Media, Culture, and the Arts)
Hello there! I am a twenty-four year old who loves to read, write, sing, and learn. I love working with kids and teenagers and have many great tutoring experiences in NYC. I successfully attended The King's College in NYC for two years, but left to pursue a career in the performing arts. I attended both public and home school in NYC. I believe these experiences have given me a unique insight on how to study, work hard, and most importantly how to find purpose and accomplishment in my work.
My most proficient subjects are in college preparation (SAT, ACT and AP classes) and all high school subjects. I am well trained in algebra, English, history and writing. My tutoring method involves plenty of practice, patience and a commitment to finding methods that work specifically for the unique way you process and receive information and achieve success. In each session (no matter how hard it can get!) I seek to encourage my students and make the task fun. Through this method all of my students have experienced success while working with me.
Thank you for visiting my page and spending time getting to know a little bit about me. I hope you consider me as you look for a tutor for yourself or your child. Hello there! I work on a sliding scale for those with lower income. Please talk to me and we will work something out. Thank you!
Laura is always beyond prepared with materials, (work sheets, knowledgeable articles for myself as the parent to work with, and endless amounts of patience.) to work with my daughter. My daughter has made progress in both reading and writing (ELA) because of Laura's research and commitment to tutoring her. Especially with the new "Common Core" guide lines. She is reviewing all her third grade work and preparing her for the incoming school year in the Fall.
Laura is a great person she wants to work with you wants to help you as much as she can. Very patient understanding and you see her passion in what she does to help others.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored elementary math privately and in group sessions for over five years. Specifically, I have successfully worked with children in 5th through 9th grade math.
I have proofread many manuscripts, essays, and articles for several years. I have worked with published authors on their articles and books. I have specifically worked with undergraduate students on research and term papers.
