About Kate

I have worked as a tutor and academic manager for the past 8 years. I initially worked for Franklin Educational Services in Los Angeles, where I received training in executive functioning through UCLA-accredited courses. This enables me to promote skills in organization, time management, self-advocacy, and test preparation.

I also have extensive experience tutoring the following subjects: pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, earth science, biology, English (middle school, high school and college level), Spanish I and II, and history.

I have worked with students in highly-competitive private schools, as well as with students with learning and behavioral challenges, including but not limited to, students with ADD, ADHD and dyslexia.

For the past 3 years, I have lived in the Upper West Side and have continued my work as a tutor. I would be more than happy to send you letters of recommendation if that would be of help!

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

For the last 4 years, I worked with Franklin Educational Services. I tutored students ranging in age from first grade through college. I provided my elementary students with support in all areas, including math, science, history and English. I took courses to become a Certified Academic Manager through Franklin Educational Services. In addition to subject-based tutoring, I am also able to promote skills in time management, organization, self-advocacy and test preparation. Also, in college, I took numerous courses in Elementary Education.

ISEE

For the past two years, I have studied ISEE prep materials, including Kaplan, McGraw Hill, and Barron. In addition to taking dozens of the exams myself to learn the exam inside and out, I have tutored 7 students individually this past year. We have worked through practice exams continuously, as I believe that the more practice a student has with the exam and what to expect, the better off he/she will be. 6 of the 7 students have been accepted to prestigious private schools in Manhattan as a result.
