My life has always been dedicated to the service of others. An existence with no regards to the well-being of people outside of yourself, is not as rewarding as knowing that your contributions has made a difference. I am a multi-skilled individual with an array of experience that has helped me become the person I am today. While working as a Team Leader for Jumpstart, a non-profit organization that teams college students with high risk children, I was responsible for overseeing all logistics of an elementary school in North Philadelphia. Not only did I effectively have to communicate my expectations to twelve college students, but I had to work cooperatively with the students we were mentoring, their teachers, administration, parents, and the surrounding community. One of my biggest strengths that I learned from this experience is how seamlessly I can make people of varying ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds work willingly work together in an organic fashion.
From 2007 to 2011, I was a fifth grade teacher at a Title 1 school in Miami, Florida. Even though I earned a Political Science degree from Temple University, I was given an opportunity in the education field upon graduation. I felt I could learn skills and be challenged in a way that would better prepare me for all future endeavors. As an inclusion teacher, I was responsible for twenty-two students, all with their own unique personalities, along with academic strengths and weaknesses. It was my responsibility as an educator to be able to cater to each of my students specific needs, all while staying on track with the curriculum and handling many other administrative responsibilities. This experience has taught me many valuable skills: interpersonal communication, goal oriented planning, knowledge of core content standards, and leadership skills that I will carry with me throughout my professional career.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As an elementary school teacher, I was responsible for a classroom with students who have various exceptionalities, ADD/ADHD included within that. It is important to understand how to differentiate your instruction with such students, by allowing them more quick breaks between lessons and asking them to repeat what was said during the lesson to make sure they understood.
