Hi there! My name is Erick and I would love to be your tutor. I am very talented at creating a fun environment and many of my private students consider me as one of their favorite tutor :) I am from Lima-Peru but NYC has been in my heart for about 10 years.
I love the culture of New York and love challenges at heart. I know your challenge is to get to know someone who you can trust when learning a new language. I would just say I love to encourage my students and challenging them in a way they want to learn more and have self confidence. I have a B.A in Psychology and minor in Spanish (GPA of 3.9) at Brooklyn College.
My path into teaching started when I tutored children in Math and English. I put a smile on these children because I was able to raise their grades and excel their performance in school.
Parents were happy as well and therefore they gave me some presents.
I joined National Park Service as a Spanish Intern Interpreter and then a Lead Intern Interpreter. I taught camping, kayaking, biking, sailing, ecology, wildlife and educational stories to children, youngsters, and people with disabilities while also translating to people whose language were not English. By the end of my internship I received two Americorp awards for successful completion of the program with National Park Service.
I am a tutor who loves to support the community so I joined "Rotaract at the United Nations." Rotaract at the United Nations is the only community-based Rotaract program in New York City which is sponsored by Rotary of New York where the core mission of the club is to help children and education.
Through the Rotaract club I attended a conference called "Rotary Young Leadership Awards" (RYLA) in 2014 at Washington D.C. I networked with Rotarians and Rotaractors from around the world where I was trained on leadership, conflict resolution, communication skills, community and global citizenship.
My Spanish interpretation skills were present when I worked for NYC Board of Elections during the years of 2012-2014. I have work pending as Poll worker in 2015.
I did graduate school for Spanish Teaching at Brooklyn College in the Spring of 2015. I did classroom observations and student teaching. Not only tutoring, work and personal learning have me busy but also I am into sports. I love soccer, yoga, tennis, running, and biking.
Feel free to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Hi there! My name is Erick and I would love to be your tutor. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
