My name is Fatimah and I have a BA in Applied Linguistics from Queens College (certified-qualified to teach K-12). I graduated with high honors and a GPA of 3.8. Immediately after graduation I completed Teaching House's CELTA course. Since acquiring my CELTA certification, I traveled and taught throughout the Middle East for 2 years. I spent 1.5 years in Damascus, Syria working at an American Language Center which was partly subsidized by the American Embassy as an outreach to Syrians. While working there I was able to travel to Muscat, Oman: Mecca, Saudi Arabia: Medina, Saudi Arabia. Then I continued to Doha, Qatar where I worked as a Qualified English Teacher for the Emiri Air Force and finally I spent time in Bahrain enjoying the ambiance.
Having those experiences and working environments has helped shape my cultural sensitivity and consciousness. My favorite lessons were those I tailored for my private students while living overseas. It really allowed up to explore non generic issues in their language acquisition process. Having worked with students between the ages of 10 and 60, I am comfortable assisting the education process by many creative and ingenious means.
From false beginners (someone with under 2 years of English who has primarily learned it in school and hardly spoke it) to IELTS or TOFEL I am comfortable teaching all levels. I can also teach Business English, Idioms, Communications, Speech Creation and Delivery in addition to a variety of other essential subjects.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
