I am currently working in a public middle school in NYC, teaching 7th grade ELA, Math and reading classes. I received a Masters in Education from Fordham University, double major in Adolescent General Education, Social Studies, and Special Education (2013). I received a Bachelors in History from Hunter College-Cuny (2012). I worked for 8 years in analyzing and selecting independent and foreign films.
As a current public middle school teacher, I have gained experience in learning student's learning styles and developed strategies to address their academic strengths and weaknesses. Fordham provided me with a variety of skills to successfully teach subject content, reading and writing skills. At Hunter, I did extensive reading and writing for history assignments. In that process, I developed strong analytical skills and methods to carefully select portions of readings to respond to long essays. Through my special education classes, I learned how to implement teaching methods to meet the needs of exceptional students.
I’m fluent in Spanish and use that skill to tutor English Language Learners.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
