Art Lessons: Have Fun While Learning New Skills.
Open your child’s eyes to the joy of creating art!
My lessons could include the following depending on what the student and I decide on together. We can talk about what the student would like to learn and get from the classes in advance:
• Drawing
• Painting in various mediums (acrylics, pastels, watercolors, collage, etc.)
• Mixed Media, crafts
• Sculpture
• Landscape painting outside, weather permitting
• Visits to the museums
• Sketching, etc.
I have flexible hours to fit your child’s schedule.
Individual or small group lessons are available during the week and/or weekends in the comfort of your home. Reasonable rates. Recommendations available on request.

I have been an artist studying the visual arts since I was 6 years old and have shared this love of the arts with children and adults, either as an employee, self-contractor or a volunteer. I am a graduate of Pratt Institute where I majored in graphic arts and illustration and received a BFA. I had attended Elkin Tyler School of Fine Art of Temple University and I am a Life Member of the Art Students League in NY. I have experience teaching all ages, children to adults. At present, I am tutoring art to students, one at a time, ages 9-12 years and one adult. The lessons are one-on-one, for several hours in their homes. I have had a one-woman show of my work in Wellsboro, PA. and have sold my artwork at exhibitions. My students learn to see the world like they never have before and to open up their creativity. I teach all levels, from beginner to advanced, having fun and learning new skills.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

DRAWING (Class will be set up according to the age and level of the student and what the student wants to work on.)

Start warm up exercises before each class

Start with drawing after setting up a still life: learning values, shading, and light source, composition, line, focal point, perspective, negative and positive space (building an art vocabulary). For the more advanced, learning to draw the figure, anatomy and motion. For the beginner, learning basic shapes and using a light source.

Learning about using different drawing equipment: charcoal, soft pencils (2B, 4B, and 6B), craypas, conté, pastels, using different papers, pen and ink, scratchboard, etc.

Self portrait looking at Rembrandt and others, self-portraits in pencil, charcoal and pastel using a hand held mirror.

Landscape drawing and seascape, weather permitting, drawing in Plein Aire (outdoors). Learning the difference in light outside and interior light and the colors inside and outside. Perspective.

Students will be able to experience a sense of achievement and confidence and demonstrate their new skills and ideas. I have a strong ability to individualize the special needs and level of each student and bring out their creativity. They will see things they never noticed before and enrich their lives.
