Hello Students and Parents!
My name is Caroline, and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts. I always tried to convince myself I wasn't going to turn out to be a teacher like my mother - but turns out were are just alike! I taught for two years as a Drama and Speech Communications teacher in Hong Kong. Within my role, I was responsible for teaching primary and secondary grade level students in dramatic arts that incorporated both English as a Second Language (ESL) and speech language skills.
Working under the ESL department head, I used a wide variety of dramatic avenues to work with the students on their English and speech skills. One of my most satisfying experiences was creating an ESL drama program for visually impaired students. Their ability to use the arts as an avenue to express themselves was unparalleled. I can assure you I have taught every kind of student from baby prodigies to adult prisoners. Some of the courses I love to teach are English, Speech writing, Public Speaking, Drama Basics and Debate. No matter the circumstances, I can find a million ways to get my lessons to click with my students.
I was a struggling Spanish student myself all through high school and college. I had such a difficult time getting the information to stay in my brain so I can promise unending patience to all my students because I have been there. I like to break my lessons up into short sections like 1. review what you know 2. introduce the days lesson with a game 3. practice new material 4. test to see if it has sunk in. It sounds simple but when we have this structure we make sure learning takes place and homework gets done. I learned over 700 teaching games while I was in Hong Kong as well as strategies used on me while I was a student studying Spanish language in Argentina. I am up for any challenge, language or otherwise, so let me know how I can help! Hello Students and Parents!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
