In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold my MSW from the Smith College School for Social Work, where I completed a clinical concentration, which included two years of internship in human services and community outpatient clinical settings. I worked as a counselor at a mental health community clinic during 2013-2014 with adults and adolescents, which included work with ADHD/ADD and impulse-control clients. For this reason, I am sensitive to the needs of these clients during tutoring.
