I began tutoring math when I was in high school, and have tutored during many of the years since.

Wyzant's online tutoring platform includes a whiteboard where both student and tutor can write, draw pictures, type text, graph functions, screen share, video/audio chat, and upload files. I use a tablet and stylus that connects to my computer to make writing on the whiteboard easier. For students who have a tablet and stylus already, I recommend that they use them during online tutoring sessions. Most of my students don’t have a tablet and stylus so they write with pencil and paper while I am writing on the whiteboard and we talk through the problems together. This works pretty well, but those who would like to can get a tablet and stylus from a company called Wacom (for about $80) that would allow them to write easily on the whiteboard. The tutoring platform works best when you connect using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox on a laptop or desktop computer.

I had an early interest in numbers and math was my favorite subject in high school. I attended college at Caltech in Pasadena, California where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. I worked as an actuarial analyst at WellPoint and passed three actuarial exams. I attended graduate school at Indiana University and earned a Master's degree in Mathematics. I worked as a teaching assistant for several semesters while I was in graduate school.

Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful

Lisa helped immensely in my understanding of my Calculus class. I went from a struggling student to a confident test-taker within only a couple of lessons. She was incredibly patient, and could walk me through any problem I could think of. Our set of lessons prepared me for the AP Calculus exam, as well as any smaller tests for the week. I would recommend Lisa to anyone who needs any tutoring on calculus topics.

Amazing tutor!

Lisa helped my son review (or should I say cram) for his business calc final. He called me after he took it saying he knew he did really well. Lisa was incredibly patient and they communicated back and forth several times between sessions over a weekend. So glad we found her! Total grade-saver! Thank you Lisa!

Calculus II

Lisa helped me understand some concepts I had been struggling with. It's been challenging taking an accelerated summer version of Calculus II with online classes only and no access to campus resources like study groups or the math lab at the university. Thank you for all the help!

Skilled and knowledgeable tutor.

LIsa started working with my daughter for extra help with AP calc AB in early spring. She is a great tutor, explains things clearly and provides excellent examples and exercises for practice. Shortly after they started working together, schools shut down and went online in this area. Lisa was flexible as we negotiated the changes, and proved an invaluable source of instruction with the loss of classroom time. She was able to help our student complete the class and prep for the AP exam, which reduced the stress significantly. We highly recommend working with Lisa!

AP Calc BC

My daughter is taking AP Calc BC this year. My daughter told me that she got a great understanding from tutoring with Lisa and figured out what concept she got it wrong. Her grade improved from 88 last semester to 92 this semester, so she ended up getting an A on AP Calc BC class!! We feel so blessed to find Lisa as the tutor for my daughter! Thank you, Lisa!

The best AP Calc tutor!

Lisa is such a. great fit as a tutor for my 17 year old taking AP Calculus. She teaches and clarifies topics well and sends plenty of practice problems and tests. Lisa is always available for additional questions and help outside of tutoring sessions too. Plus, she is just a super nice person.
