From the very first session Marlana was encouraging which took a weight off of me as I had found someone who could truly help me. This was a difficult subject and she eased my fears and helped me to focus on the job at hand; she taught me to review the complete problem and then dissect it in a logical order to cover all aspects of the problem using the right formula. She was able to guide me so that I could work the problems with ease; I understood the concept but was not good when having to put it in action with the exams.
My homework grades and exams grades improved greatly. Previously, I had the lowest grades in the class but with Marlana's help I was able to rank with the best, my final exam grade was an A. I would not have done this without her assistance. She is knowledgeable and easy to work with; she is good with assessing your strengths and weaknesses which allows her to then guide you in the right directions. I am so grateful for her help.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a Harvard graduate student and have had a great amount of experience applying for undergraduate skills, preparing for the SAT, applying for scholarships, preparing resumes and getting ready for college interviews. Prior to being a graduate student, I was a High School Math teacher, and one of my subjects was an SAT Math class offered at our school. During this class, I worked with students to get ready for the SAT and mentored students working on their college applications. I have also done this with students I have worked with via private tutoring one-on-one.
When I applied for undergraduate, 6.5 years ago, I also applied for over thirty outside scholarships and won approximately $35,000 to put toward school. I have experience with applying to scholarships outside of the ones offered by the university. Most students do not even take a look at these, and I have the experience to guide them through this process.
I would love to work with you as you prepare for your college career!
Having been a high school teacher (with experience teaching all four grades), I know how challenging it can be to stay organized and learn to use your study time effectively. Luckily, there are a variety of tools and techniques to choose from that fit you! No one should have to fit into a mold and that means your study and organization skills shouldn't have to either. There is no magic secret that works for everyone; you should never feel like a failure just because you can't seem to master what your teachers tell you is "correct" or what seems to work for other students.
I would love to work with you to get your study skills sharpened so you can have the confidence to succeed!
