--800 (Perfect!) for SAT Math Subject Test Level 2 after only 2 months of tutoring!

For the past 9+ years, my successes have included perfect 1600 SAT student and PSAT National Merit Qualifying scores for students, my ACT tutees regularly hitting 30+ composite scores with 35+ averages on Verbal, Ivy League admits for my grad school students, 4.0+ GPA class scores for learners on everything from their English to Calculus, full ride scholarships for middle schoolers to prestigious high schools, as well as helping several classes of first-generation college students at local non-profits be accepted to Northeast colleges such as Colby, Barnard, and Dickinson, as well as top entrances to Columbia, Yale, McGill off of my level of SAT, ACT, and GRE Prep. These are just a few of the results I've achieved in recent years.

My student successes have allowed me such amazing experiences, including being flown out to California to lead a UC Berkeley-based program, instructing summer prep courses at Princeton and Yale, working as a homeschool instructor to aspiring professional & college athletes between their international games, and working with students from all walks of life be it private school (Trinity, Horace Mann, MKA, Frisch) to public school (NYC, NJ, Rockland/Westchester, LI). I am a first-generation college student that graduated from Dartmouth and am working towards a master's candidacy in Physics at Columbia. I have even taught myself to write upside-down across tables to tutor better. These are just some of the accomplishments I myself have fulfilled as an educator.

My results for my students and myself speak for themselves. I am a tutor who comes highly recommended from families and programs alike, even to the point where, while working for tutoring companies, I have competing tutoring companies separately give my name as the first pick on their respective rosters for families shoppin

ESL/ESOL,

ESL/ESOL

For approximately 2 years, I tutored as a volunteer for grades 1-5 in math, science and English in a Hartford, Connecticut public elementary school. It included ESL work with many non-native English speaking students, mostly Spanish speakers, who were enrolled in class and had difficulty. For 6 months, I tutored three students with ESL work (two Spanish speakers, one Mandarin Chinese speaker) at a New Hampshire high school. I had received a job offer last summer to work as an ESL teacher at a public school in Seoul, South Korea through a private teaching English abroad company called Ivy in Asia. However, I turned down the offer due to personal/family reasons. I currently participate in language exchange sessions at local public libraries in the North NJ area. I currently work with a Chinese Mandarin student in mainly pronunciation, and will soon be helping a Korean-speaking student with grammar and pronunciation.

During high school for approximately 2 years, I had been tutoring as a volunteer for grades 1-5 in math, science and English in a Hartford, Connecticut public elementary school. After graduation, I had been working as a private tutor for elementary (K-6th) students in the Northern NJ area. I currently tutor one student in elementary school for general reading, math and science. Previously, I have tutored 3 elementary school students in everything from general science to reading comprehension to Spanish review. I also currently volunteer with a non-profit organization called Paterson Education Fund, which helps support elementary as well as high school students in the city of Paterson, N.J.. I am also studying to prepare for my teacher's certification program next year.

Homeschool

I have tutored several homeschooled students over my past 4+ years of tutoring. These have included students enrolled in traditional homeschool programs, high school athletes requiring homeschool programs to accommodate their hectic traveling schedule (mainly for travelling hockey teams), as well as students whom required temporary homeschool work while recovering from surgery, etc. I have tutored middle and high school homeschool students primarily, with a focus on STEM subjects including math, biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as writing English papers.
Study Skills,

Study Skills

During the past few years, I have been helping students find different sets of study skills to help them complete homework assignments and study for tests in all their subjects. I have done this working as a private tutor for students who sometimes needed help with three to five subjects in an hour. I taught them memorization skills, mnemonics and other techniques, as well as providing them online resources and books which would help them continue their progress. In addition, I currently work with a non-profit education organization helping low-income high school students with their homework and SAT review. I have been primarily focusing on general study skills and resources for many of these students, whether they are having any constraints due to time, budget, study area or otherwise.

At least every month if not week, I will regularly send your student updated notes on their class that I make myself! Free 1st lesson to all new students!

I've tutored students in Algebra 2, and taught several summer courses at Hobart and Yale summer camps in the subject. Good Precalculus lesson with John

My son was so happy with his lesson with John! He said he could finally understand what he was doing with Precalculus because John was able to break it down to a form that he could understand.

Extremely Effective/Goes the Extra Mile

After just a few sessions, my daughter's grades in Geometry have improved tremendously (she got a 100% on her last quiz). John is adept at assisting his students in grasping concepts which have otherwise eluded them. If that weren't enough, John takes the extra time in the evenings to create study sheets for my daughter to assist in her review for upcoming tests. Really a fantastic person and an exemplary tutor. Thanks, John!

Superior, knowledgeable tutor!

John is the best tutor who stands up to his credentials. He easily established rapport with my son and was very flexible with scheduling. On his 3rd SAT attempt, after being tutored by John in Math, my son raised his scores by 25% in that subject area and we know John made that variable difference. John is a compassionate individual who is willing to listen to your needs. He is passionate about his work and it shows. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment in highly recommending John as a tutor who gets the job done!

Best tutor in the world

I can't say enough about John. He's just remarkable. He's pulled our son's grades up, our son really likes him (very important) and he even gave me a session so i could understand what my son is doing enough to help him, too.
