New York University (PhD)
I have a PhD in Organic Chemistry from New York University. I have taught college level chemistry for five years during my time at NYU. I have also done numerous hours of tutoring at the college level. I have helped students prepare for MCAT exams and DAT exams as well as the math and chemistry classes during the academic year. I am patient, attentive, and I believe in teaching through practice problems versus just lecturing. I have flexible hours and am willing to travel within NYC. I have helped dozens of students get the grades they want and I can do the same for you.

Last semester, my average in organic chemistry hovered around a D+/ C-. I studied for hours and could never fully grasp complex topics either, and not at the fast pace that was required. I tried to solicit the help of friends, but my grade showed little improvement. This semester, I was determined that I could perform a lot better in chemistry than my grade had reflected. When Talha began to work with me, she made Organic chemistry instantly fun. For someone who has a Ph.D in Organic chemistry, you would be hard-pressed to find a tutor that was as affordable and as helpful. I have met with Talha four times this semester and I have an A average after two months. If I had not gotten Talha, my average would most likely be near the class average, which is currently in the D- to D range. With Talha’s help, I have discovered that organic chemistry is not as impossible as it once seemed. Now, I do not have to spend hours studying for orgo because Talha gives me review problems that I should expect to see on my exams. I no longer have to guess which problems I might be tested on or what material the professor is just teaching to fill in the curriculum. Do not be fooled by some of these other tutor’s advertising their proficiency in the "sciences." If you want to do well in orgo, a general chemistry tutor will simply take your money and not help you at all. Also, some tutors advertise their high grades as a qualification to tutor kids in a subject they haven’t taken in years. To get a Ph.D, it takes determination and genuine understanding of the material. As a Pre-Med major, I would like to tell those students who may have not done that well on their first Organic Chemistry test, it’s not too late to recover your grade. Don’t waste your time with someone with a degree in engineering; get someone with degree in Organic chemistry. Get Talha!
My son will get into medical school because of Talha....she started with chem...now organic chem.....a star!!!!....but I don't want people to know cause I need her all for my son!
Talha is great! From the very first lesson, she focused on my on unique strengths and weaknesses when it comes to tackling such a tricky subject as organic chemistry. By testing me while she taught each chapter, she helped me to immediately realize what topics I did know well, what I didn't know, and what I needed to improve on. And quickly after that, the lessons became so in-depth and well-organized that it couldn't be clearer that she's exceptionally knowledgeable about the subject. Not only did she make the work clear and present it in multiple lights for me to thoroughly understand, she also had many practice questions for me to work on after every lesson. Not only is she one of the best, if not THE best, organic chemistry tutors out there, she's also an amazing person. Talha is very kind, easy to talk to, and easy to contact at any time, and is very understanding. She helped me learn the material and do well in the class, and I had fun the whole time. I definitely recommend her as an organic chemistry tutor, 100%! Thank you so much, Talha!
She will reschedule last minute and not even apologize. She will not take the time to explain, and if you are confused, she will berate you. I was afraid to ask her questions. I have never had such a horrible tutoring experience. Do not use her as a tutor.
It is very important to me that my students leave feeling confident and ready to excel in their classes. I would encourage any of my students to be open and honest about how they feel during our session so that we can both have a positive experience.
I wish you the best of luck in your class.
I am a Fordham Student and Talha tutored me in organic chemistry. She came all the way from Manhattan to the Bronx at very flexible times and was very helpful. She helped with a lot of problem sets and had more problem sets that I could practice on in addition to my teacher's. She was very good at explaining concepts, really friendly and definitely helped me do well in organic chemistry. I would highly recommend her.
Talha is the best organic chemistry tutor you could ask for! I took a very rigorous course but Talha helped me learn all the reaction mechanisms I needed to know. She always comes prepared to sessions and has an incredible amount of practice problems to sharpen your skills. If you have a weakness in any area, Talha will help you identify the problem and drill you until you are extremely well-prepared. Always patient and encouraging. You will see significant improvements in your grade and will gain the confidence to master this class!
Talha has tutored my daughter twice so far, and we are very pleased with Talha as well as with the WyzAnt site! She arrives on time and explains everything so clearly and succinctly. We are glad that she can fit us in her schedule, because with her help, PreCalculus is actually not the nightmare it was when my daughter started this September.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Organic Chemistry is a study of compounds that contain mainly carbon and hydrogen atoms. This subject explores the connectivity on these compounds and also their reactions with other compounds. Proficiency in this subject requires mastering naming compounds, reactions to change the structure of the compound and mechanisms to show how the reaction occurs.
I hold a PhD in organic chemistry from New York University, and I am the recipient of both departmental and school wide teaching awards at NYU for organic chemistry. I have successfully tutored dozens of other students and helped them understand the subject. I am a patient and thorough instructor and will help them learn the material at whatever pace you need.
