About CORINNA

Dear Student,

I am here to serve you and work with you in whatever position you find yourself, with whatever writing struggles and ambitions you have. I value originality and have an unfailing sense of what works and what doesn't. I will not only show you (if needed) how to make your sentences grammatically correct--I will help you to find your voice and express yourself clearly and compellingly.

I have been a professional writer and editor (and sometime coach) since 1995. I have written research reports for the Library of Congress and have published creative nonfiction in a variety of venues.

I currently work (part-time) at Columbia University as Assistant to the Editor of a prestigious academic journal. Before that, I worked as Special Projects Writer and then as Quality Assurance Specialist for written materials (a management position)for the City University of New York's School of Professional Studies, in which I was responsible for editing and approving all documents written by a 22-member team before they were submitted to the client.

In addition, I have had a freelance business since 1995 and continue to work for old and new clients. Among many other projects, I have helped students write their personal statements for college, edit the dissertations of PhD candidates, tutor ESL Head Start teachers in composition and grammar to help them prepare for their teacher exams; and have written and edited a cutting-edge science curriculum and teacher handbook for the University of Arizona's Department of Surgery.

In short, I offer a wide range and level of writing services and skills. So let's work together to make writing an interesting and exciting experience for you. I do not consider myself skilled at working with young children, however, so please take this into account if you want to contact me for a job.

I send you best wishes and hope that you will give me the opportunity to help you to achieve your goals. Thank you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Great Wrtiting Tutor! — Corinna was a pleasure to work with and helped me write my first paper for grad school. She was right on target about where my writing skills need improvement, and helped me overcome some of those obstacles in a short amount of time. From our first conversation I already felt my writing anxiety melt away. Thanks again Corinna and all the best. ...
