I have been working as an adjunct lecturer in the CCNY math department since the fall of '09; a position in which I've taught everything from Basics stats and probability, remedial math, and college algebra through all levels of calculus, vector calculus, linear algebra and differential equations. Recently, I've even taught a basic proofs course. In addition to this, I have extensive experience in tutoring publicly (I have been a tutor in the CCNY Math/Physics Tutoring Center for almost a decade now) and I've tutored privately for even longer. I have also taught ACT prep courses at the John Jay College (CUNY) and have participated in summer programs geared towards helping incoming freshman and community college transfer students adjust to the culture that a senior college demands.

I really enjoy tutoring and teaching, and I spend the vast majority of my time doing both. I also see them as a way for me to give back--something that I always want my life to be about--to help students gain opportunities and understanding that they perhaps would have not gained without my help; at least, not as easily. It is a great feeling to know that you have made a significant, positive difference in someone's life, and seeing that expression of enlightenment on someone's face after you have explained something to them, making the difficult simple, is a great way to get that feeling.

Algebra and arithmetic form the basis of a good foundation for the study of math. Even when teaching higher level math classes, I often begin with the algebra rules one should know, and the mistakes to avoid. I can demystify the rules behind calculations, and show students how to make them enjoyable, accurate and applicable. I've done this for many years with my students and I can do it for my Wyzant clients :)
Calculus,

Calculus

I LOVE calculus. I enjoyed it while taking it as a student--all of calculus 1, 2, and 3. I enjoy tutoring it, which I have been doing for over 10 years. And I enjoy teaching it. I have taught all levels of calculus at the college level, and have been teaching courses at the level of calculus, below and beyond, since 2009. I know the time saving tricks, and the energy saving must-know concepts to make mastering calculus simple.

Differential Equations

Since taking the course around spring 2007, I have tutored Differential Equations in the CCNY Math/Physics tutoring center, and I am teaching a differential equations course at City College in the spring of 2015.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

As a student, I did quite well in Linear Algebra (A+ in an undergraduate linear algebra course designed for math majors). I've constantly revisited it throughout the years, since it is a subject that is useful and inextricably linked to many areas of math. I have also taught a course that mixed vector calculus with linear algebra, and I taught an undergraduate linear algebra course in spring 2016. So I also have teaching experience in the subject.

Knowledgeable and Teaches to Understand

Jhevon is University grade. He managed to teach me four classes worth of material in an easy, understandable manner in under an hour. He's calm and amicable. Nothing but praise to give him.

Amazing Calculus teacher

Jhevon is the reason I haven't lost hope on my ability to succeed in Calculus. Our first session ended up being about 4 hours long because of how lost I've been in the subject. Jhevon is organized, astute, direct, extremely knowledgeable, thorough and NICE! I feel lucky to get to work with him.

In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity! Jhevon will really break it down for you!

I was very concerned and worried about doing well on my final. I didn't know a good portion of the information, and had little understanding of what I even did know. He really broke it down, and explained everything really well. He was easy to get in contact with, and really gave his time in and outside of the lesson. You can't find a better tutor. Don't believe me? Check out his videos on youtube, which is where I first learned about him, and you'll see he is a real master at teaching!
