Kenko was very easy to talk to, and mostly importantly, detail-oriented and patient. I had wonderful experience with Kenko for my first lesson and will continue getting tutored from her. We had about 7mins of free conversation at the end, which I think is very nice for someone who doesn't have much interaction with native Japanese speakers in person.
Kenko is currently teaching me new material from Genki, and also helping me further understand the material I am currently covering at the Japan Society. If you are looking for a Japanese tutor, or need help with current Japanese course work, you owe it to yourself to take a lesson with Kenko Sensei.
I have been taking Japanese lessons with Kenko for a few months now, and I can already see improvement in my speaking, reading, and conversing skills. The lessons vary from time to time to keep it interesting, and Kenko is very willing to stop and answer questions. Highly recommended if you want to learn Japanese effectively and efficiently!
Kenko is a wonderful tutor - diligent, kind, patient, and utterly dependable. Though highly proficient in English, she is also very good at explaining things (e.g., new words) in Japanese - even though it would be easier (though not necessarily better for the student) to just say the English word. She also tries to incorporate subject matter that her student will find interesting (after getting to know them better). Finally, she's pretty funny - so you may find that a session goes by quite quickly and pleasantly. Highly recommend her services!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
