Hello! My name is Arry and I'm a graduate student at Pace University working on my Master's in Special Education. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education with a concentration in English, also from Pace. I have worked with students for a few years through my field work and student teaching during my undergraduate studies. I usually assisted the teacher with her lesson plans and worked with small groups of students or one-on-one with students to help them strengthen their skills. I also developed my own activities for students in areas where they needed more help. I've worked with English Language Learners, helping them build on their English speaking skills. I've also created and taught my own lesson and unit plans to whole classes.
I think that teaching to student interest is the best method. A teacher or tutor needs to find out what the student is most interested in and try to create lessons and activities around those interests. This engages the child and makes what they are learning more applicable. I love interacting and engaging with students and I try to make everything I teach fun and interesting. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken 30+ graduate school credits in Special Education, focusing on teaching strategies for various students, including those with ADD/ADHD. I have also worked with students with ADD/ADHD one on one from evaluation to implementing strategies.

I have also been an Assistant Teacher in a Gifted and Talented 1st grade classroom, and held a position as a 4th grade teacher. I am currently teaching Gifted and Talented Kindergarten in Manhattan.
