I graduated with a B.A in philosophy from the City College of New York. While in college, I did very well in the French classes I took for my core requirements.
My experience includes a year in 2003 and 2004 volunteering at the East Harlem School at Exodus, I spent time tutoring students in the 5th through 8th grade in pre-algebra and introductory algebra. As part of my duties as a volunteer at the East Harlem School, I also tutored pre-K children in basic math and reading at a nearby after school program. I also volunteered at Street Squash where I tutored 7th and 8th grade students once a week.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I spent a year volunteering at the East Harlem School at Exodus House where I tutored students in the 5th through 8th grade. The bulk of my tutoring was to the 5th and 6th graders. Also, I used some of this time tutoring pre-K and kindergarten kids at a nearby program for math, reading, and writing. Outside of that one period, I have visited the East Harlem School to proctor exams and help the younger students out for whatever homework problems they may have.
