I graduated with a B.A in philosophy from the City College of New York. Throughout my time in school, I did particularly well in math and was quite willing to help others.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I spent a year volunteering at the East Harlem School at Exodus House where I tutored students in the 5th through 8th grade. The bulk of my tutoring was to the 5th and 6th graders. Also, I used some of this time tutoring pre-K and kindergarten kids at a nearby program for math, reading, and writing. Outside of that one period, I have visited the East Harlem School to proctor exams and help the younger students out for whatever homework problems they may have.

For three years, I was a homework assistant at StreetSquash where I had particular focus on math for middle school students. There, I gained experience working one-on-one and with multiple students. Also, I spent a year volunteering at the East Harlem School at Exodus House where I tutored students in the 5th through 8th grade. The bulk of my tutoring was to the 5th and 6th graders. Also, I used some of this time tutoring pre-K and kindergarten kids at a nearby program for math, reading, and writing.

I have helped some younger children, both at afterschool programs and those in my family, with their math homework and was able to get improvement from them. Even more importantly, I was able to impart some of the ways to get a deeper understanding beyond simply getting the answer correct.
