Hey everyone! My name is Malik, and I am a junior at Columbia University studying computer science. Teaching and education have always been a huge passion of mine (my mom is also a high school teacher, so maybe that's where I get it from), and I want to spread my knowledge to children that need my help. I have been tutoring in various math and physics subjects for around seven years now, so I can say that I have a ton of experience. I have tutored everyone from elementary school children all the way to adults. In high school, I worked at Kumon Learning Academy, where I primarily worked one on one with first and second graders. My boss even said that I have a "touch" with the kids. Alongside Kumon, I did a lot of private freelance tutoring. I tutored a mother working on her master's in Calculus, I tutored a student at my high school in chemistry, and I had various other gigs mainly doing math, physics, and test prep tutoring. My tutoring approach involves not just teaching to the test, but helping the student deeply understand the material. I think it's important that every student has a holistic approach to what they are studying instead of just memorizing formulas.
As for my credentials, I graduated from the top STEM school in the nation, High Technology High School, with a 96/100 GPA. I then took the ACT, and I got a score of 35. I was accepted as a computer science major at Columbia University in the engineering school, where I am a junior now with a GPA of 3.7/4.0. Now, I am taught by the best computer science professors in the world, and I would like to relay my knowledge to children eager to learn more. Math and physics were my strongest subject in middle and high school; therefore, I am able to give all the tips and tricks to students to help understand the concepts.
As you can see, I am more than qualified to tutor in math, physics, and computer science. Thank you for your time, and please consider contacting me at your earliest convenience!
