Lights, Camera, Action!
Visual storytelling is my passion, and I love to teach it! Working professionally for 10 years, I have substantial experience in television, film, corporate communications and digital media production. I teach 1-on-1 students of all ages. Also, I teach various digital media subjects to groups at the Pelham Picture House.
Looking forward to working with you!

A few highlights: I'm a 3 time New York Emmy nominee and 5 time Telly award winner. I'm a director, writer, producer and editor of two award-winning films, "Give a little" & "Perspective." Also, I'm an award winning producer of Granville T. Woods Documentary. I'm the Production Manager & Director of Women of Action with a multi-camera YouTube-series promoting female empowerment. I'm the Producer and Host of a Podcast and I recently launched my own podcast.

I have worked in video & film production for over 8 years at professional organizations and stations such as Verizon FiOS, PBS, Plum TV, Fox News, and WWE. My education is in Film & TV Production and I am currently working in the media production world as a director, producer, editor and photographer.

I am very skilled in MS Word and happy to teach what I know to help you communicate effectively.

I've trained students, colleagues and friends in video, media and photography. I truly believe that with determination and dedication, we can learn anything. My goal is to teach you the technical part of the job, but also the artistic part, which is just as important. After all, media is a way of expressing ourselves, it's an art! So I'll teach you what you need, with hands-on experience, and we'll make it fun!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Photoshop

10 years advanced experience editing still photos, creating images out of elements/lines/etc for video work. Also skilled in retouching, color correcting and removing/adding objects from a photo using the stamp tool.
Typography and utilizing Photoshop along with other adobe programs such as Aftereffects and Premiere.

Film

Emmy Winning Director/Editor.
I have a BA in Film Production from Brooklyn College and have been creating films ever since. I have edited a feature length documentary called "The Suprise Tour," a short horror film called "The Collectors," and have also been hired to produce marketing/training films for organizations such as the MTA, Americans with Disabilities Association, and CUNY. My independently produced short films "Give a Little" and "Perspective" have won multiple awards including a Telly for Best Entertainment and has been selected for distribution on Roku via Olive Tree Film Festival. As a director, writer, cinematographer and editor I have excellent knowledge of film production and would make a patient, detail oriented tutor.

Photography

Starting out as an amateur photographer since high school, I minored in photography at Brooklyn College. My major was video production, which also stresses the fundamentals of photography: composition, exposure, white balance, film and digital. I have been a photographer for over ten years, doing gigs such as bridal showers, weddings, events and mostly portraits. I am most familiar with Canon but have experience with film and digital cameras, even darkroom processing. I am very knowledgeable about the subject and happy to lend my expertise to a student looking to express themself through photography.

My companies include WWE, CUNY, Verizon FiOS, PBS, MTA, Plum TV and Fox News. My awards include five Tellys and three nominations from the NY Emmy Awards. I have trained individuals at various ages and skill levels in video production, including a young lady that I trained when she was an intern, and today she works for ESPN as an editor. I have the experience, knowledge and industry insights to be a very helpful tutor.
