Hilton is a very good tutor,m he explained problems very well that I otherwise would not have been able to understand. He made the complex physics and math I was doing much easier.

I felt immediate relief from the stress Chemistry was causing me after sitting down with Hilton. He has a very clear, gentle approach to teaching the material and made me feel like I can actually tackle a subject that has been difficult for me to grasp the past several months. Highly recommend.

Hilton has been more than I could ever ask for for my tutoring needs. Not only is he patient, caring, and kind, he explains things very clearly and effectively. You can tell he is very experienced in the subjects he specializes in (math/science). I am so glad and lucky to have come across Hilton, and I'm sure you will feel the same way.

Hilton was cery calm and logical in how he explained math to my daughter. She said that she is now clear on all the topics she had questions about. He is a real pro and really knows how to approach the student's questions in a rational matter. We look forward to more lesson with him and highly recommend him

I just started working with hilton but I can already tell he's a very helpful and caring tutor , definitely recommend .

Hilton is the most kind and patient tutor I have ever worked with! Hilton has tutored me in Algebra 2 and Chemistry this year. Whenever I did not understand something, he would think of analogies that helped me tremendously. He is very responsible and will always get back to you. I could not ask for anything more in a tutor!

Discussed gases and thermochemistry. Hilton helped me understand multiple formulas and how to apply each one. Very helpful and patient.

He was very knowledgeable about the work and explained everything very in a detailed and understandable way. He also made me laugh, which is always a plus.

My daughter is preparing to take her Geometry Regents exam and needed help with understand the subject more than the did. After her first session it she was so happy with how much better she understand things that previously confused her.

Thank you Hilton

Hilton has been reviewing Trigonometry and Chemistry with my son. He is very familiar with the school curricula and is now prepping my son for Common Core and Regents exams.

He was very good and knowledgeable

The review of pre-calc helped me to understand the work better and I aced the mid-term exam after struggling during the semester.

Mr. Hilton is an excellent tutor. My daughter's grades have increased to 90's. He explains the subject to her learning style, and she is more confident and answering questions in class.

ACT Math,
English:

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

The ACT Math section consists of 60 problems which are to be completed in 60 minutes. It includes Trigonometry and Logarithm- topics that are omitted from the current SAT. I have tutored only two students so far, but the results were impressive. One student improved from a 5 to an 8; the other improved from a 7 to a 9. This was due to the different style of tutoring, where I identified weaknesses, and provided guidance, and strategies on how to overcome such weaknesses.

The ACT Science does not require a student to have any prior knowledge of any Science subject. However, students must be able to comprehend passages, and interpret or infer information from graphs and tables. Nevertheless, the most important factor for a student to do well is probably time management - a student has only 35 minutes to answer 40 science questions. To get the student to do well in this section, my tutoring techniques focus on speed reading, identifying keywords, and how to correctly interpret the information that is given.

For a number of years, I have been teaching/tutoring students in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and the more recent Common Core Algebra. Most of my students have excelled at the Regents exam (90+ scores).

For the last 10 years, I have taught, or tutored students in most areas of Math. Some of my students were high school seniors or first year college students who were taking College Algebra.

My qualifications in Calculus include the following.

- I have taught or tutored AP Calculus (AB & BC) to high school juniors and seniors (Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Technical, Brooklyn Friends School). Most obtained 4 or 5.

- I tutored College students (BMCC, Queens College, Stony Brook, Manhattan College, Buffalo University) in Calculus I and II. Most obtained scores of A or B in their college finals.

I have about 10 years experience teaching/ tutoring Chemistry at the following levels:

Regents

SAT II

Honors

AP

General Chemistry I & II

During my undergraduate years, I took Math courses that involved finding the solutions to differential equations of the linear and non linear type. I obtained A's in these courses. In addition, I have tutored a student from Manhattan College throughout a whole semester, on solving first and second order differential equations of the homogeneous, and non homogeneous types. He ended with an A average for the course.

I have tutored other college students (Queens College, BMCC, Stony Brook) in non- Calculus and Calculus based physics. In the latter, I assisted students in finding solutions to problems involving first and second order differential equations from Mechanics, Gravity, EM Theory (Maxwell's Equations), and LCR circuits. In every case, each student finished his/ her course with either an A or B average.

For the last three years, I have tutored a brother (presently 5th grade) and his sister (presently 7th grade). The parents love my style of tutoring, and the positive effect I have on their children.

Furthermore, I have taught elementary Math to small classes (5-8 students) of grades 4 and 5 at a tutoring academy during summer school. The reviews I received from the students, and the director of the academy of my style of teaching were very favorable.

I have worked with students in elementary (grades 2-5) and middle school (grades 6-8), helping them to become proficient in reading, comprehension, science, and math skills. All students showed significant improvement in the subject areas, and went on to do well in the state wide exams. I have even prepared some students for either the SHSAT (grade 7) or the Hunter High School (grade 6) entrance exam.

I have been teaching/ tutoring Geometry during the last 10 years, at an after school academy in Bayside. I taught small groups of students (3 - 10), or provided tutoring to individual students. Topics covered included Logic, Geometric proofs, Geometry of the plane, 3-D Geometry, Common Core, etc. There is not one aspect of high school Geometry that I have not taught. Most of my students obtained high scores (90 +) at the Regents examination.

My university studies have been in the Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and related applied fields).

For this reason, most of my teaching and tutoring experience (over 10 years) has focused on the physical sciences and Math. My techniques allow me to quickly discern a student's weaknesses (most of the time, it is lack of knowledge), and to implement a plan to overcome such weaknesses.

Within the last five years, I have tutored 6 individual college students in first year college physics. These students were from Stony Brook University, BMCC, Queens College, and Manhattan College. Three obtained B average (initially they were failing); the others A average.

Prealgebra is generally taught in Middle School. I have 10 years of experience teaching or tutoring grade 6 students in Prealgebra. I identify areas where students are weak, and then develop individualized plans to help each student progress to a higher level.

For the last 10 years, I have taught or tutored students in most areas of Math. Most of my students who took Precalculus were high school juniors or seniors. Topics covered included Sequences and Series, Limits, Conic Sections, Sketching graphs, Finding roots of a Polynomial, Complex Numbers, etc.

This was a difficult subject for most of the students. However, with proper guidance on techniques in problem solving, all became adept in mastering challenging problems, and went on to do well in their exams.

I am very familiar with the Regents curriculum, as I have been teaching it at school (or tutoring privately), for the last ten years. Also, during this period, I have taught (or tutored) the Regents curriculum in Geometry, Algebra II & Trigonometry, Integrated Algebra at the BBS Academy- an after school academy.

For the last 10 years, I have been teaching SAT Math classes at an academy in Bayside, or privately tutoring individual students. Most of my students earned scores between 700 and 800 on the math sections of the SAT exam; a small number of them obtained a perfect 800.

I have great experience teaching or tutoring Algebra 2 and Trigonometry during the last 8 years. I taught small groups of students (4 - 7), or provided tutoring to individual students. Topics covered included the following: Graphs of Trig. functions, Solving Trig. equations, Proving identities, Unit Circle, Finding areas of intersection of geometric shapes, Equation of the conic section, functions, solving algebraic equations, etc. My method of teaching this subject makes it easy for a student to understand. It is mainly for that reason that most of my students obtained high scores (90 +) at the Regents examination.
