Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

While the larger part of my teaching experience has been in Middle School and High School levels, I have had the opportunity to work as a Substitute Teacher for the last two years. I have been assigned to many elementary schools to teach in specific areas, including Music and Spanish.

Sight Singing

I was accepted at LIU/CWPost as a vocal music major. I spent the first 25 years of my professional life as a singer in the capacity of back up singer for the likes of Quincy Jones, Boz Scaggs and Wilson Pickett to name a few. I have also been musical director for a few bands that I have used for my own solo performances. I have in addition held the position as Choral director at a Middle school, during my tenure in the NYCDOE.

Social Studies

During my tenure at the NYCDOE (New York City Department of Education) I spent 5 years as a 6th, 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher. Aside from my duties as a Spanish teacher and Choral director, I am familiar with the Middle School History curriculum.

Voice (Music)

I was originally a vocal music major at LIU/CWPost college. I later graduated with an undergraduate degree in Spanish literature with a minor in music. My first career was that of a professional singer. I have performed and or recorded with Quincy Jones, Boz Scaggs, and Wilson Pickett, to name a few.I later became a Spanish teacher in the NYCDOE
